Congolese Music / Re: KIRIKOU OFFICIALLY BACK WITH MAISON MERE

I'd love to see Goldberg get more opportunity. For whatever reason he's always playing second fiddle to someone else.

He's taken the long route to the top from Maison Mere, to fere, to QLI, to a mini solo career & then back to Maison Mere. Maison Mere is a rough and tough place to survive but it's the one place you are almost guaranteed to make a name for yourself if you can push yourself into that podium

I hope they are bluffing

In this era of digital streaming, who really cares about the album cover? So long as the music is good...

95
Arnake also left? Werra had high hopes for him but he left in a rush for greener pastures. For how long will this donor be willing to stick with them? As soon as donor gets tired the group disintegrates & they go back begging to rejoin their former groups

Congolese Music / Re: BILL CLINTON DISSES TUTU KALUDJI
« on: November 07, 2019, 11:10 »

Tutu is a singing atalaku while Bill is a "true" Atalaku

Those are now the details of comparison

quys les maquisard lost chikito over leadership issues and his tradtional discipline issues, lost vasco mabiala the secretary and founder of the concept to apparently abandoning music and giving life to God,lost kunzardo to the team wata offshot...i dont think the group still exists

We already have a team Watta offshoot?

Not in defense of Tutu...
I have noted that we always compare apples and oranges.
For one to make a comparison the characteristics being compared must be similar. You cannot compare for example a first voice with a second voice. An atalaku in one band can shine but when moved to another he dims.
What I have discovered in Congolese music and alot rides on other factors and not necessarily talented. I We know talented artists who are not famous or mediocre ones who are famous.
Another factor is era...Timing can make or break, even more so nowadays where social media is King trending songs gather "mosses". But does it equate to quality.
Artist hunger also plays a part, artist who want to break into the scene generally have more drive than those established.
I could go on and on....
Bill and Tutu are as different as day and night hence comparison is moot.

It's a valid comparison IMO since they are both atalakus. A comparison between Jose Chilavert & David de Gea is valid because they are both goalkeepers even though they had totally different styles

I think his career is a flop...

Not as great as he would like everyone to believe but saying his career is a flop is stretching a lie too far.

It will take a couple of listens to sink in. Feels like so much is going on in one song. Not a bad song, not great from first listen

Congolese Music / Re: INNOSS REACHES 35 MILION VIEWS
« on: November 05, 2019, 12:28 »
A cynical part of me thinks that this is largely due to Diamond Platinumz's fan base though. Even the original song only started racking up views after the release of the remix/collabo with Diamond

I'm not a fan of the dissing and empty beefs but Bill says some truths. Koffi's ndombolo was way bigger. Not necessarily better. In my personal opinion, I never saw anything special in Kaludji as an atalaku. I never found him captivating enough, I never found him entertaining enough. he had the benefit of being backed up by a big band

Bill on the contrary was imposing, he was entertaining & his animations in Solola Bien, Kibuisa Mpimpa & a la que le leu are unforgettable. Even as a solo artist he went on to do some good animations. I'm not sure we can say the same about Kaludji

Lol damn wa ba menthe’s career ended with the quickness and he made it worse by joining MM he should’ve gone back to BCBG or formed a team with Abraham, Metro and maybe even Djino

Did he really join Maison Mere of he just went fo a test and was never absorbed

Congolese Music / Re: Is it true that Petit Reagan died today ?

I totally respect your opinion but remember sometimes your hate for the artist makes you miss some good vibes they release. From the little I hear so far the generiques are quite solid and danceable and as a rhumba fanatic they are also going to be huge(papy kalubi full boss seems like gonna be my hymn). You can hate the guy but allow yourself the objectivity of enjoying the music if and only if it is quality and Formidable does not sound that bad from the tidbits.

I share your sentiments on objectivity. I don't even understands how someone gets to the point of "I hate that artist".

People miss out on a lot of good music because of personal biases against some artist
