My type of Rhumba. My first consideration is always the beat followed by the vocals. Here the beat works for me!!!

Congolese Music / Re: ABEL DE CHARMES IN STUDIO

The only sin he has done is to go solo alone. He should have gone with Abraham.
exactly but then again there would probably be leadership issues if he did lets see how he does good luck to him
Abraham stands more chance....

Why do you think Abraham stands more chance? Abel is as talented if not more!!

The lady still deserves a happy birthday. I think she gives a good account of her selves musically and her supposed affair with Mopao can not take that away. Besides, Mopao, like any other artist has always been hiring, firing and being deserted by musicians so I don't see how Cindy can be blamed for destroying QL.

Welcome to the blog @Blaze. You have nailed this thing for once. Cindy as an individual sings well. I have not heard of any of her vocals where she is poor and I have many. That's how we need to judge her; by her singing and not for being a mistress!!! If there is anybody to blame it is Koffi himself who allows her to overshadow everybody else in the band. Lastly members on this site have been so self righteous and hypocritical when it comes to Cindy's relationship with Koffi. Polygamy is not illegal and Koffi has a right to sleep with any woman he wants. If you believe in monogamy, it's your choice. Koffi wants to have twenty concubines, what business of ours is it to mind? We are not the moral police and quite a number of us also have their own skeletons. It pays to remember that there is no lesser sin. so let's get off our moral high horse and mind our own shit!!!

We keep stating our disdain for her in every thread topic about her, yet there are times when i sense that Koffi is as happy as one can be with the status quo.

He controls her way more than we think; she has no social media presence and she very rarely does interviews. On top of that, she's literally obsessed with him, to a point where it's actually crazy, which is perfect in Koffi's mind. Furthermore, she won't be leaving anytime soon because she knows she won't elevate any further without him.
I think if she links up with Monsoh he might elevate her further

Elevate her futher?! Physically or musically?(Tongue in cheek!!)

Congolese Music / Re: Héritier Watanabe - D DE D (Clip Officiel)
« on: November 10, 2016, 17:02 »
Phew, its been long since i watched a clip of such incredible quality. This is a full hundred. The singer who complements Wata is good. How I wish the change in tempo had come much earlier as the song starts for me at that point and so that more vocalists would flex. Seems am gonna enjoy the rhumbas from Retirada.

Congolese Music / Re: EN AFRIQUE VS RETIRADA
« on: November 02, 2016, 12:31 »
If a premier generique needs animation by the main act to make an impact, then that main act should never be Deplik. His attempt at animation is whack and the whole track is a travesty to sebene. I did not enjoy Retirada but its way better than En Afrique. I always wonder this talent people keep saying Deplik has since there is nothing he has ever done to justify that overated tag. A good thing I am not short of alternatives.

Simplicity: I do not think anybody has said that people his age are 'prohibited' from posing bare chested. If he even wants to go nude, he is very free to do so and that wouldn't be anybody's business either.
Guess we can move on to the next one please...

My sincerest apologies. Its just that a reading of your initial post suggested you had made it your business!!!

Mopao nor wan gree say him don dey old o! See as he open chest down dey snap picture! Lol...Smh! (Mopao doesn't really want to accept the reality that he is gradually growing old. Look at how he posed bare chested for his single sleeve).
He is seriously competing with the younger ones. Lol

Yea, I first saw that photo when he posted it on Instagram; I was "come on now, it's not 1995 anymore".

Who said people his age are prohibited from posing bare chested? If at that age he is still proud of his physique to go bare means he has kept himself well and that is a plus!!!

Wow, DVD Mangani is back in QL. Intelligent man he is, he can go out and come in as he want.

Who is DVD Mangani? Singer, Atalaku or instrumentalist?

singer with a style of singing close to soleil

Oh yeah. I had seen the name in Wikipedia sometime back as having participated in some album not sure whether it was Monde Arabe or Danger de Mort. In this concert he sang nicely. Lindalala and Farboson impressed as well. Notable fails were Fabrice, Eric ex-Karmapa and the worst was the one with a shifty look who sang Fally's part.

Could someone update me here. Cindy used to wear for concerts clothes with the same colour scheme as Koffi but in recent albums has been 'demoted' and wears the same scheme as the other band members. Is there a seismic shift or am I becoming paranoid?

Personally I think you have to look at it in the context of an African experience, a mind that is not yet corrupted by Western Idea's of sexuality. thats my 2 cents.

I tend to think it is in the West where homosexuality is tolerated that such lyrics by men to men can find more tolerance. But even them, the ones you call corrupted do not have male on male songs. If there are I will be happy to get examples!!!

555
Really questionable. In most genres, be it reggae, RnB and even my native Benga and Ohangla it is almost abominable to have a man sing romantic lyrics addressed to a fellow man. In the two last genres I mentioned sang in my vernacular, it is common for male singers to dedicate songs to other males but they will mostly be praising their hard work, generosity, wealth and prestige and in very few instances describing their physical attributes but never in a romantic sense( they would sing something like Hosea Songa, the brown guy who has all ladies swooning over him). Archos and other gurus please do some clarification. Though between Kimberny and Heritier I once read here that they have some triumvirate 'backdoor' business involving one Ipupa Anelka too.....
