Sebenes have disappeared. Generiques and rumbas don't quite make it for most people. No more transition or change of beat. Werra probably is the last to do it and we NEED another FARA-FARA type album with all current and legacy atalakus.  that was the dopest thing 21-22 years ago.

Congolese Music / Re: CELEO TEASES HIS FEAT WITH HERITIER
« on: July 09, 2023, 11:12 »
To be honest, I'm not expecting any bangers from Celeo anymore or even with this upcoming project with Heritier. His appearance at Ferre's concert was a disaster. He was off key for the most part and did not know how to chain together his best animations to get the crowd going. Ferre had to lead him in in some parts. Another honorary Congolese Atalaku in my opinion.

I randomly found this today. Was this after Alpa Tchino left Papa Wemba or PW approved of this? Album came out in 2000. The struggle is real in congolese music. Bands are born everyday but they struggle to stay alive. Anyone knows much about this band? Did they have any successful hits or other albums?

Good to see the assemble QL is still alive (somewhat :-). Good sound also.

Does Musikasika ever play solo? He's always mi-solo or rhythm..

Good to see Champion Esthetique. I always struggle to choose between him, Titina Al Capone, Cambridge and Kakol. His steady drumming is what made generiques/sebenes danceable.

This show lacked a good atalaku. Acid has no stage presence other than to shout (thank go for studio works). Equaliseur is basically an honorary atalaku. His atalaku days are behind him (I liked his work in Tchimoke with Fabrigas).

Speaking of atalakus..Hats off to Tutu Kaluji, Bill Clinton. These two have managed to keep their voice intact in over 20 years of animation. Every other atalaku are struggling to stay on key

Just hearing this for the first time. Such a nice dedication to Pepe Kalle

I know some of the voices. Koffi, Papa Wemba, Madilu, African Michael Jackson (his name escapes me). Who are the rest of the singers you know?

Also, what's Koffi Olomide's secret? some of the collaborators on this song have passed.

Congo Brazza is written all over this one, sorry....the monotonous keyboards, the dry snares, the monotonous mi-solos, the familiar solo guitar sound...tomato/tomata...

Congolese Music / Does Fally need an arranger?
« on: May 06, 2023, 19:02 »
I heard this the first time on Amazon today and was surprised that he had a generique that I don't think was posted here. But I started listening, i realized that Fally knows how to kill you enjoying his generique. That slow folkore bit at the 4:01 kinda kills it for me. It's been a while since fally did a fast tempo generique and managed to mess this one up....anyone one else feels this? He probably should have started slow.....

Congolese Music / Re: Montana Kamenga

Thanks for the info. Youtube said it was released in 2011...I trusted youtube lol....
If he made good money from this album and wasted it then he's not ready for prime time which why he was part of bands despite the fact that he's a decent singer....Do these guys generally waste money like this?

I didn't even know Montana had a whole album out in 2011...Was he still not in QL at this time? Did Koffi give him the nod? Cause that's usually the problem with band leaders..quand les petits ne sont plus les petit...

Anyone knows who played the solo on this album? and the atalakou, I've heard before but don't quite know him. Besides, when cri are recycled, you kinda don't pay attention too much...

Caen Madoka and Dally Kimoko are probably the last of the soukous era soloists still alive but not active

Congolese Music / I'm drawing blank...

I'm just hearing this song for the first time as sung by Tshala Muana, but I know I have heard from a male voice also as a cri but now I can't remember from whom. Who owns this song originally?
She left us a very large repertoire of different genres.
