Just noticed that Lobeso has come a long way. I didn't know that he was in Empire Bakuba. He must have been in his teens when he was with them. Did he go from here to WMMM or he went somewhere in between. I really never digged his style that much but give credit for creating his own brand of animation...
Very happy to see all these guys alive all together. In the years since the break up, we've had so many offsprings of these individual guys. There would be a void in music without Wenge Musica, period.
Marie Paul joined Wenge 4x4 in 1987 before Mulolo, but was for a long time reserve because there were already Blaise Bula and Werrason as second voice singer and the 4 mic was shared between Ricoco Bulambemba and Adolphe Dominguez. In 1989 he got finally to sing in the remix-version of Mulolo as background singer. In december 1989 Wenge 4x4 tried to get in Europe with help from Deboli Fataki but they got arrested because they had fake-visa's and drugs in their luggage (They were snitched by Ben Nyamabo). However singer Ricoco and reserve drummer Pipo la Musica managed to get in Europe. Because of Ricoco's absence and Adolphe who settled in Europe since 1988, Marie Paul finally got a permant spot in the band and not long after that he would become the chief of discipline in Wenge 4x4. He became a key member a participated in all concerts of 1990, they became also "Champion du Zaire/Best band" of that year. In December 1990, they went to Europe, they toured and recorded the album Kin E Bougé. Marie Paul had only one vocal in the song Kaskin and participated as background singer in the song Kin E Bougé. He left because he was seen as a traitor for the way he defended Ricoco who tried to make a comeback and also for the way not happy with the money he received towards the end of the tour. He heard that through people that Werrason would give him a 6 month suspension when coming back to Kinshasa. That was the reason why Marie Paul decided to stay in Europe when Wenge 4x4 returned. This made Manda Chante and Alain Mpela who could finally get some space with the 4th mic getting open, but they were dissapointed when they saw that Adolphe Dominguez returned with them.
The guy in the white is Full King, Wenge's first atalaku ever. He didn't had any cris, but he participated in the allbum Bouger Bouger where he used his shakers. He left Wenge 4x4 in 1992 to join Wenge El Paris.
Maradona was left behind 1990 for Wenge 4x4's Europe tour. They brought his back up Titina Al Capone in his place. After Kin E Bougé stayed in Titina's shadow who once used to be his back-up. Wenge 4x4 who leave him once again behind when going on tour in 1992. This made Maradona join Wenge El Paris. Maradona would later also play for Nouvelle Ecriture-Viva La Musica where he participated as drummer in the albums Fula Ngenge and 'L.
Wow thank you for the details ..so much politics in bands. To be honest, Werraon should consider himself lucky to have made it. He was not the best second voice of the lot, but had charisma....That went a long way....
This is probably the only video I've seen so far with Marie-Paul as a member of Wenge 4X4. When did he join? When did he leave? Does he have any memorable songs with the band?
Is the guy with the shaker (in white) an atalaku? did he have cris?
I also noticed the drummer's name is Maradona. What happened to him? Titina must have taken over from him
These guys (JB, Werra, Blaise, Adolphe and all the notables) have almost 30 years in music
Is she branching out again? I haven't seen her in the recent WMMM rehearsals. Looks like she wants a stating position somewhere. Hopefully not will Bill. Bill is no longer hungry for music.
