This is one hit that almost broke up the  TPOK Jazz

Back in them days, there were two football camps in Kinshasa.

Veya was a hit by Mayaula Mayoni in Praise of Vita :

""

Sam Mangwana then sung Zala sportiff :

""

TPOK fans were split and this led to arguments within the band. Some band members who were fans one team refusing
to play the song of the other team.

Franco had to step in and cut the debate short, declaring no more songs in praise of any of the football teams
to maintain harmony in the group.

Those were the days before Premier League mania caught us in Africa

Thank you for this Update.

Zaiko Langa Langa certainly ruled at this time :D

Congolese Music / Re: Djodjo Ikomo has passed away

Mawa Trop. He did an interview with Mbuta Likasu 2 years ago to talk about Bana Modja, his time in Kenya and Empire Bakuba

Indeed, Djodjo Ikomo had a music carer  spannnig a series of countries in Africa - East Africa (mainly Kenya), West Africa and also  in Europe with Franco and TP OK Jazz in the 1989-90's.

Here he is one hit  he did with TP OK Jazz- Likambo ya somo Lumbe :

RIP Legend Djodjo Ikomo

Here I can clearly hear the bass, rhythm and lead guitar clearly. I wonder why this setting is not adopted

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMARHLt3L/

This is mostly due to the limitations of the recording device. At times I listen to songs liked in posts that end up making me dislike to song. Later I listen to the same from some quality equipment or the original and realise that it is quite a good song.

Another factor is the prevalence of cheap audio recording system, that have give rise to some poorly produced works today. We have some software-generated song that are enhanced to oblivion. There are some studios that produce quality mixed works, but others do not balance the different equipment.

A quality recording should have a balanced ratio of each equipment, and leave the listener to enhance the equipment they would like to hear more. that is what the Tone button ( or Graphic equaliser) are designed for.

Just listen to these two examples with your Headphones :

""

You can hear the rythm guitar on one side, the Solo on the other side, bass almost in the middle and the vocals pan across. In fact, if you have good quality headphones, you can distinguish each instrument.

""

Or this very old Recording :

" "

Music mixing and Production is also an art.

They do not make these kind of Recording Nowadays....

Wow,

This is the same tune and ambiance from the Days of Extra bol in the 90s.

Diblo has clearly not lost his touch.

Happy New and Thanks for the update.

Good to see her looking very good.

Before joining O.K Jazz she had a stint in Kenya singing for a group called Bana Ekanga.

She still has the moves as well...

The song and album of 1993, then late in the year Noblesse Oblige came out. RIP to one of best songwriter and guitarist ever. My mother used to play this album all the time.

One the most beautiful sounding songs I’ve ever heard. Carlyto & Pembe Cherole (I believe her daughter is a famous Instagrammer/NWE)

The compositions and sebenes were wonderful.

Some of my favoutite Mayaula hits are when he was with Franco at TPOK.
I still play hits like Ba chagrins, whcih to  me will never get old.

Now, This IS Talent!!

For a usually mellow artist, back in 99-00 the aggressiveness of thé générique and the sebene songs made more of a shock to me than Cocktail. Theo Mbala’s versatility really shined along with Coréen Polystar

The rhythm gets me every time as well

Man, the Memories on this one!!

Animation was great and the overall album was very good.

Thanks Ndeko, I am going to dig up this from my archives.

Nice tribute, very poignant mutwashi tune.

Thanks for sharing.
RIP Mamou Nationale...

I fell in love with her music when i heard this song in the then popular music program URTNA.I have never been able to getthe video for this song.

Yeah,

URTNA was the place to meet African stars them days.
I too have never seen a video of Vuluka Dilolo, especially the UTNA version.

Mamu Nationale was a Treasure and trailblazer for female musicians and she left a very clean record and legacy.
Rest in Power Tshala Muana Queen of Mutuashi....
