For the first half of 4x4 I noticed that for the singing portion of the songs a lot of their songs in the first albums lacked the congolese flavor and felt more like maybe european based ballads ? Would anyone agree and could anyone that was there at the time be able to enlighten me on the impact of wenge at the time. I just have a hard time understanding why they were the chosen ones when I listen back to their earlier stuff like bouger bouger, kin e bouger and the likes. What was revolutionary was it their movement outside of the music? Was it the sebenes? Was it JB’s voice?(which i never thought was the best voice in wenge, i always thought mpela was the best singer)
