I have a friend, and when I listened to the early album: Salamalikoum by Sakis, he told me: "Oh, this is from the time when Sakis was still a good boy."
So I titled this post with his definition, to intorduce you the song below. It is Yoka Lolembo. A nice rumba tune that I found on his album: Let's Go to Dance from, 1987, when he might still have been a good boy. I have just managed to get hold of this record. The song is a proper rumba, with very nice guitar parts in the style of Bongo Wende, though it is written it is not him who is playing, that made me surprised anyway, but well... And I like the vocals too. All in all, a very well arranged song with nice melodies.
By accident I didn't notice you posted the video of Le Capitan. Very nice song. I love these, I am archiving them constantly. Especially Super Mazembe.
OK Jazz - After the death of Franco particular members, like Mabiala, etc. tried to declare themselves as the inheritor of the boss title. But leadership was given over to Simaro Lutumba. However, in a short while, the relatives of Franco who were the inheritors of the band legally, started to spread gossips about him that he is leading the band unethically. According to rumours they were encouraged to do this by Madilu. So in the end the group was disbanded, and a bunch of its members formed Bana OK, to save themselves from debates.

Sad news, because it seems they "learnt" the Congolese style very well. It would be interesting to listen to this record though, I guess it is ultra rare. Maybe will try to mine it from second hand shops when I go to Paris.
Actually Matebu summarized what I know about them. But interestingly, I was informed about that they released at least 2 LPs. Maybe the info is not correct. Who knows. I heard these Central African bands had much difficulty because of the low level of studios they had access to in their homeland, and also because of less promotional opportunity. That's why they are less known than other Congolese style bands from abroad. I checked some of their releases and found sometimes they cost quite much, very likely because of the rarity of these records.

I have listened to the first 5 songs, and I have to say I am very impressed. I like the rythm and solo guitar parts very much. Sometimes it feels like these solo tunes could even be played in recent songs as well, some of them has a surprisingly modern sound. Thanks for sharing these, I will definately include it in my playlist.
