I thought since we sort of know where members stand with which artists/groups and music time periods we like, it’d be interesting to know opinions you have that aren’t of popular opinion. I think alternative viewpoints can make for interesting discussions/debates.

- People gave Werra crap for his singing abilities, but in recent years... there some times where I think JB is an overrated singer as blasphemous as it sounds. Particularly when I watch some of his later concerts. After TH and Internet, it seemed to me he wasn’t putting that much effort into his singing like he used to. Makaba really brought best out of him in the golden era Wenge 4x4 BCBG TT. I am well aware that part of the reason is because of the period of vache maigre he went through during the mid-2000’s.

- I think Evoloko Lay Lay was the worst leader/singer. I was a big fan of his dances like “Dallas” way back in the day, but his singing voice always seemed to be a cheap version of Wemba’s. In some songs his voice sounds like a whining child. He is good on chorus though.

His featuring on 13eme apotre was disappointing. Cindy was doing too much also.

- Koffi completely lost consistency after BEK. I struggle to listen (or want to listen) to just about all his albums post-2008, but I think most of us agree on that.

Love this topic and couldn’t agree more on the points u made....shocking in recent years i started admitting to my friend  JB had it easy! For a guy like me who skipped classes or got in trouble during BCBG vs MM era it shocks my friends...but they kniw if Makaba had started his own band with Same energy Tata Started Tonya Tonya, id go there.

Concerning the older genenration ahaha..Tho Evoloko’s voice did not annoy me like it did with many members here! Me it will always be Likinga’s voice that i can never stand! I like his songs...but when sang by JP Buse or Adamo

The other guy is Mashakado,my dad’s fav member....beside bringing the show with is extra dancing, his voice never impressed me! Same with his musical career

Congolese Music / Re: The art of guitar
« on: April 12, 2018, 21:54 »
Personally i always thought it was useless and unecesairy to have both rythm and Mi-Solo as sometimes we can barely even hear them. Specially in concert...so for me 3 Guitar player is enough(Bass, Rythm or Mi-Solo, and Solo)

My childhood.. Love how Yoto Delta Force interpret Shiro’s lead guitar in Poupa( last song in this concert)....Idk why but growing i always like Shiro or Baroza tho Baroza had some deadly and memorable sebenes

Congolese Music / Re: WHO IS SOLIST PETIT POISSON
« on: March 29, 2018, 06:06 »
Avedila Emile AKA petit Poisson. He was a Guitar player at the University of Lubumbashi in the late 70’s (played along JP Buse who will join him later in Zaiko) Kester btw was at the same University but playing for a different band.. Once back in Kinshasa he was invited to play in what was called back then ZongZing with a section of Zaiko LL. Around 1981-82(Period Vache maigre of Zaiko). Jossart recruited him because he could interpret perfectly Manuaku-Waku... But they went ahead and Took Roxy Tshimpaka to really push Manuaku out.and they made Petit Poisson second Rythmic Player behind the talented Enoch Zamuangana..When Tshimpaka left a couple if years later to go to Langa Langa Stars they initially recruited Jimmy Yaba to take the Number 2 Lead Guitar and Matima taking number one..But when Popolipo came from Langa Langa Stars Jimmy got swuitched to Mi-Solo, Beniko and Matima Solo( Petit Poisson Occasionally), Zamuangana and Petit Poisson Guitar Rythmique.Uncle Bapius and Yvon Kabamba  Guitar Bass.

He was great at interpreting Roxy and Pepe Felly Manuaku during Concert and played few songs himself(eg Match ya Ilo) between 81-87/88. Then left with the group to go Creat Familia Dei( Ombale,Ya Lengos,JP Buse, Kabamba Yvon, Bebe Atalaku, Jimmy Yaba,Beniko) there he got a lil more involved in the Lead guitar and when Beniko left for QL, Petit Poisson became their( Zaiko FD) main Lead Guitarist up til he rejoin Zaiko LL around 96 and take his old Rooe of rythmic, occasional songs( Volvo, Beniko and later Daniel Muanda and Tshanda preferred as main Lead)

I listened to this album, honestly as a huge fan of the Extra Music sound...I am really disappointed, though it should be expected. Im speaking from the standpoint of a non-lingala speaker but as musician and a huge fan of the seben/soukous. Like others have mentioned before, the sound of Extra is the same thing over and over.  The fact that this album is mostly seben sound I think hurts it simply because the beat is the exact same song for every song. If you were to run each seben one after the next you can't really tell you're on a new song. This was an album that was purely recycled Extra Music/Wenge songs. I feel Extra Music with this album has not advanced their music one bit, they've actually regressed. Nothing innovative here

From a pure musical standpoint based on the quality of the music alone and my bias towards their sound it gets a 7/10. Nothing innovative or different vs the music of today.
From the standpoint of knowing the previous work and how this album is recycled..a solid 2/10.

This album sounds like a more polished version of previous albums 100%. The sound is not bad rather just absolutely nothing new.
1.  242: This song sounds just like Sorcille Kindoki from start to end. The distorted guitar solo at the end is used in at least 5 other songs in this album and has been heard before in songs over the past. "Jesu sur la croix" The entire arrangement is the same song
2. Ingratitude sounds like a song from Wenge's Les Anges Adorables mixed with something from Shalai album
3. MM International...see number 2 and number, solo sounds like Innodation
4. Same as number 2 with "Jesu sur la croix" solo
5. Another previous rumba
6. See number 2
7. Le philanthrope starts off like and old Wenge/Shalai/Obligatoire song then he literally goes into the same solo from Innodation @ 3:15
8. Le jour sinistre....This song is the same as Chagrin plus plus..LITERALLY!. Bass line gives it away. It transitions into a Makaba ish rift at the end.
9. Drumming actually sounds a lot like one of Papy Kakol's on a Maison Mere album...cant think of the song. It transitions into a halfway solo and goes back into the "Jesu sur la croix" solo
10. Toko Suka Wapi...I had hope. But again its just and old song repackaged. They took Chagrin plus plus and put it in a major key in the 7/7 progression. Then again "Jesu sur la croix" solo at the end.

Things I like to read!!!

Overall good album. And like everyone said, the sound is terrible! Same  level with Soyons Serieux.... that song Joli Swag could’ve been fire but i give it 8/10 bcuz of the sound issue! Songs like that need a good Bass! I tried it on 3 different sound system still can’t boost it up

Oh I always thought they split on December 7th and the argument happen one day or hours after the famous Feux de l'Amour concert at GHK with Papa Wemba & Nouvelle Écriture as guest. Archos,Mvulusi if you have time can you do a story from Pentagone till the split. I don't know if y'all did that on the old forum.

Lol i remember Archos promised us that story since i joined this forum in 2014 lol
