Professeur Didace was a guitarist he used to play rhythm, but sometimes also lead. For example in Magie he played lead on Detresse and Merlian. He also played lead in the song Dessin Anime of Ultimatum, which had normally to be in the Magie-album. He had only one song (Detresse) in Quartier Latin, which is in the Magie-album.

Quartier Latin was first not a real band when it got founded in November 1986. It was more a band that had to back Koffi Olomide up in his concerts of Kinshasa (he was Europe-based at that time). The concert he gave with Choc Stars at Kimpwanza motivated him to form his own band, because he had to share the money with the late Ben Nyamabo, but Ben Nyamabo not being fair and taking a big part of the money. Some members of the first members of Quartier Latin were his old mentors, for example the guitarist Vieux Veron (the man who taught him to play guitar), some of the singers were his friends, others were introduced by Koffi's friends. Most members came from Binza and Lemba and used to play in small bands. Binza was the neighbour place where his Koffi's mother used to live and Lemba the area where Koffi spent a big part of his childhood. It was difficult for Quartier Latin-musicians to accept musicians coming from other areas in their band. For example when Marie Paul, who used to be Koffi's pire petit and guy who he used to rehearse his songs with when coming in Kinshasa, got approached by Koffi's friend to join Quartier Latin. He wasn't accepted by guitarist the late Yoto Nkelani "Delta Force", wanting to mess his test up, because he wasn't coming from Lemba like him. Which made Marie Paul not join Quartier Latin. Fofo le Collegien was also part of Quartier Latin's first generation. He used to play bass for Sam Mangwana before joining Quartier Latin

Quartier Latin became a proper band from 1990/91, when Koffi started to poach slowly all influent members of Flash Musica, after seeing them performing at Blaise Kombo's mourning (Wenge's ex'mi-solist). Flash Musica was a band based in Binza who were one of Wenge Musica's rivals, some of the songs in Magie were old Flash Musica's songs. The first one of Flash Musica to get recruited was Rocky Blanchard, followed by Suzuki, they were later joined by Willy Bula, then you had Lebou Kabuya after Lebou, Modogo came then Flash Musica's bandleader Sam Tshintu in 1993.

So that was Didace playing lead on Detresse? I always thought it was Beniko.

Didn’t Sam joined in early 1994?
