if you look at it well,its the generiques which came with a "concept" which have the most views,ya mado with the perfect timing and the dashiki or whatever its called,original mentioning the influential cities of africa and one of the first congolese videos to really develop the concept of fans themselves promoting it by dancing and posting,and of course selfie which was already a universal trend and people just "lacked a song matching it"
its not at all a matter of age but  rather of quick strategic sense and timing
by the way, its funny how us humans can do the one thing 5 years ago then be so excited of doing the very same thing when it now has a name
at this rate one day somebody will give a special name fo how we put our feet into shoes and it will become a new concept

My main aim of posting this is that I was just wondering are today's generiques just a passing fad? They don't last very long in the limelight. Actual time in limelight is now measured in several weeks. Gone are the days when a generique could mersmerize dancing floors for a year!

maybe its because of how the world seems to be now,more based on trends than on longterm which is why albums as a whole are having less and less success,in the past generiques would drive the album and be a good mirror for other solid songs of album,today it drives the artist's buzz for a couple of months and that's it until the next generique expected max one year after that
