Just found out in the comment section that Congolese guitar legend Lokassa Kasia Denis( Lokassa ya Mbongo ) and former member of Sam Mangwana’s Africa All Stars, has been hospitalized in Columbia after a stroke and is sadly struggling to communicate verbally. From what I understand he’s been living in Columbia for a number of years, if you follow Shakira you’ll understand that Congolese music style is very big in Columbia since the 1970’s. He’s apparently been living alone and his family and fans outside of Columbia may not be aware of his current condition. I’m calling out anybody on this forum that has contact with his family to please make them aware in case they haven’t heard.
I stumbled on this old clip of a young Felix Wazekwa, what caught my eyes most was the dance routine close to the end. It was normal and void of any robotic movement that has become a signature move of Wazekwa.
Can any of our esteemed Seniors, explain when this transitioned happed, thanks in advance.
Mbenzu Ngamboni Boskill aka Bozi Boziana , is my favourite Congolese artist of the last 30 years. Always calm in a turbulent industry. Perhaps none has done more to promote Women in Congolese artist...her protege's include Deese Mukange, Jolly Detta just to name a few.
Guys your opinion on the Vocal skills of werrason? Personally, I'm always amused when ever Werrason intrudes into a beautiful song like (Vita Imana) ...he never seems at home doing vocals, although his confidence level is amusing.
So is he considered a good vocalist in Kinshasa?, has he ever been told that he can't sing?
I grew up hearing this guys name in a lot of Koffi's song and in at lease 1 Dindo Yogo track? , So for you guys the experts and Oracles of Congolese Music what can you tell me about that name....
I've always been curious at the translation of some my favourite Atalaku's ie. Brigade Sarbati, does anybody know of a link or website that offers translations...
I got to appreciate congolese music in the 1990's while living in London and Washington DC, the music from that decade was modern yet pure, the 1980's were the foundation years and the 2000's was an era in which congolese music gained great popularity through youtube and the internet.
I had songs like Koffi Olomide's Dessepoir, Losambo - Extra Musica and Reine de Saba - Bozi Boziana on repeat.
