I have found this record recently, I wonder what release is this? The credits say: African Fiesta Sukisa. Is it just a normal release by Dr. Nico, or it was released by Air Zaire and the tracks were used as background music on airplanes or company projects?
The other oddity is that Mama Elisa Mobange, the last track, is actually a Conga Success track, not a Fiesta Sukisa track. At least as I know...
Not the strongest tune of Roga Roga, but can hear some nice ideas in it, both rhythm and solowise. In my opinion Patati Patata was a better tune, but this one is interesting as well. The video seemed more promising though.
There is a proverb that: If something is already good, don't change it. It applies for every song of the classic Wenge. Every cover they did later was less interesting than their originals. The only exception for me is Mboka Liya who could add some more interesing parts to the sebenes during concerts. A good example of this is the Abidjan Concert video from 1997.
A band who was professional and very successful in doing good reinterpretations of their own old songs is Zaiko. Think of the songs: Payment Cash, Crois Moi, Pa Oki, Kamanzi, all those and even many more was "upgraded" later, some multiple times, and those upgrades really meant an upgrade, not a downgrade. In Wenge this was not the case in my opinion. Probably because they did this as a kind or necessity, not as a calling of creativity. Werra and JB separated, they needed their own versions of the old songs, no matter what.
Original, sealed DVD of Extra Musica - Trop C'est Trop.
I have been hunting for this for years. Especially because it has the unreleased track "Karen Amour" that has been available on Youtube in really bad quality, while it was one of the best songs of the era in my opinion. I have had the pirate copy of this that was available from certain shops during the years, but they are not the same quality as the original either. If you are interested in this DVD, send me a private message.
I have mentioned recently that the forum now supports several social media links, but sharing some might be a little bit tricky. So here is a comprehensive guide to share the most popular ones:
I don't understand why it's worth for him to go solo. I hardly hear about him when he is alone, I wonder how he can collect enough money that way? Sometime around 2010 he was kind of in the headlines occasionally, but then for years I hardly heard of him. Only when he returned to Extra Musica.
