Congolese Music / Re: Suzuki is angry at Koffi
« on: May 09, 2018, 07:49 »
^ Not sure what you’re going on about; Wemba even said in interviews that he was not an official  member. They had a strong relationship back then that went beyond music in those years according to Wemba himself. Wemba even named one of his sons Koffi Olomide. I also have footage of Koffi as his sound engineer when he was recording in Brussels in 1983.

You simply dislike koffi, so I don’t exactly expect impartiality on this subject matter. I’m just trying to rectify false information because weekly we get threads like this... based on hate instead of facts, and then it’s either Mvulusi , Archos or myself taking the time to explain what actually happened. It’s tiring for people who just want to appreciate music.
no Brother-man...I don't hate Koffi....I ve been following for so long now...my friends call me Mopao.....I ve been following Quartier Latin for too long..now just because I like Koffi does not mean that I should side with everything that he does even when its wrong or not true...he is rich and he is a good singer but not the best song writer and that is normal. Now Koffi's cadres never get along with such normalities...the likes of Suzuki and other acient QL soldiers are the roots of QL.Even Koff himself knows that deep in his heart...He also knows deep in his heart that he was Wenba's singer...moto akosa bino te.Tolingaka vieux Rambo mingi mingi...azalaka na ye danger na koyemba..mais na makambo mosusu a dependerka epa bato mosusu...na esika akomi lelo oyo..bato nde bakomisi ye wana..vie ya moto nioso ezalaka boye.

I don't care how big Koffi is Suzuki needs credit for what he created I can't stand that only because he became a legend Koffi like he made himself, to start he was a member of Viva if I don't go wrong and without Papa Wemba's help and support Koffi wouldn't  even recorded the first album which was a huge fail so Suzuki can talk how he want.

Koffi was never a member of Viva la Musica. He was Wemba’s ghostwriter when Wemba started to struggle early on his career (early 80’s) and he also assisted him when him (Wemba) first began settle in Europe. If he was a Viva member, that would also mean that Wazekwa was a Viva member too.

Have you ever listened Pas de Faux Pas? Koffi put an 18 year old Suzuki on the map by showcasing him on the album and giving him space to shine.  Till this day Suzuki’s most famous song is Stilla.  If Suzuki really advanced in his solo career, then he wouldn’t be talking about Koffi now at all. I’m a huge Suzuki fan, but it is what it is.

I hate to keep having to come to his defense, but y’all are trying to find ways to undermine Koffi with false facts because you dislike him.
Brother-man Koffi was a 100% member of Viva la Musica..that is if u don't want to say Papa Wemba's singer...he was not a song writer like Wazekwa. He was a singer with a lot of ambitions to sing...find a man called Vieux Veron in Kinshasa and ask him about this.Wazekwa is a different case. And in Viva la Musica it's not like he wrote a lot of songs for wember..could only be a few...Koffi is NOT one of the best composers or song writers you will find in Rhumba music.coming to Suzuki...Suzuki may not have become a big musician after leaving Quartier Latin YES!! but he contributed massively to  the development of that groupe..am not saying Suzuki only...all the members of quartier latin from the time the groupe was created.Even this time around Koffi does not compose songs for himself...even Nyataqance 90% is by very young boys whom he fired after they completed recordings. He maybe a good singer but a big composer or song writer.Even songs about Aliane are composed by other people...So Suzuki can even be right when he complains about Koffi.

Ndombele (R.I.P.) died to early he knew alot about the history of Congo. I was liking his interviews alot.

Zacharie Bababaswe is a lulua. That tribe that lives in and around Kananga. Ndombele (R.I.P.) didn't like the way he attacked Bazombo (Angolan people), which made him call Zacle a Zambian to create confusion. At that time people in Congolese community were confused. Not knowing is who is who and the Congo being  invaded by neighbor  countries with the governement doing nothing against it. Angola who took some parts of Kahemba (in Bandundu), some islands in the Congo river next to Boma, a part of the Mayombe next to the border with Cabinda and oil from Banana. Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi who are already more than 20 years in the Congo. Zambia who took a part of Katanga, etc. The interview which Zacle made led to a conflict between Congolese and Angolan people with harsh attacks. Congolese people were also not appreciating the way Angolan soldiers were repressing Congolese people, alot being killed and many woman being raped by those soldiers. While DR Congo welcomed them since 1914 until their independece and also during the civil war, helped them with the war to get independece, etc. I remember people Kongo-Central wanting to do some revenge back in 2009/10 to people with Angolese roots who were there already since the 50's and 60's, but they made peace on the end, since that alot are in the politics and army now and fell more Congolese than Angolan, doesn't have family anymore there and made their brothers of Kongo-Central reminds them about their "kanda" (they are from the same tribe) which made them abandon to do that. With alot of people being 50% or 25% Angolan there.

On the contrary @Mvulusi96, Zambia also had a problem pre-independence that emanated from the fact that Zambians of Congolese origin were treated with suspicion because 1) the failed seccession of Katanga province and 2) if you look at the map of Katanga it almost cuts Zambia into half and this is a mineral rich area of the so called Copperbelt (copper, cobalt, uranium, gold etc) . So the first president treated anyone with Congolese heritage in Zambia with suspicion and would therefore never admit publicly of their heritage in the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Please people of God anyone with this album share with...I really love the little man.

This little man is the one that made Koffi so jealous. Koffi is reported to have torn Suzuki's Passport to stop him from travelling with QL on tour.

I remember around the 1996/97 era Koffi came to Perform in Nairobi, the Fans demanded to hear Suzuki and kept chanting his name.
Koffi tried to explain that Suzuki could not come this trip and promised to bring him the next trip, the fans then told him they would attend his show the next trip. Tough times for Koffi.

Stilla is my favourite Suzuki song from the QL album Faux de Faux Pas....
That's very true about the passport...Koffi started beefing Suzuki after the little man stated questioning Koffi why he likes changing tittles on songs composed by Suzuki and even crediting the same songs to other people..There are songs that were composed by Suzuki but Koffi changed tittles and names of composers...

Actually, I remember hearing Loi & V12 sold at least 500k copies each by late 1999 according to Koffi when he had a RFI interview right before before Attentat came. Koffi also said that cassette sales were more that a million,  though they didn’t keep close count because it doesn’t count for gold disc requirements.

But Loi came out during the best time for CD sales, so I don’t think it’s a good example for this discussion

Fally’s Arsenal de Belle melodies was the last album to officially sell 100,000 physical copies

Koffi never tells the truth..he is a very big liar and a shameless crook. He can say whatever you head him say about sales just to blow up his boastful status but it can just be untrue. We know him very well from long long way back. azalaka neti ba lobaka que..ndaku oyo ovandaka na kati te,oko lula yango kaka na libanda.Kota na kati okokuta ezanga ba kiti.wana liloba ya ye moko Mopao..alobaki lisusu ete nzinzi ata ako pimbua likolo azali ndeke te.

even Mukusa ya mbua ll be sashed out at some point...I mean he was thrown out during the the times of Gesaic Tchipoyi...he ll be thrown out again more likely after the release of the forthcoming group album.Koffi threw out CNN Aligator for no proper reason...that means he can sash out anyone anytime.
