Congolese Music / Re: WENGE BCBG TESTING A NEW SOLOIST

I wonder how your main soloist feels when you start testing other soloists. Tolbert Solo not creative enough? or some band members want something new?

Congolese Music / Re: FABRO NA MBONDA
« on: April 10, 2022, 10:56 »
lol a friend of mine says when fabro went full bald  he tried his best to look serious and now that he's growing hair back he's back on exaggerating every of his moves
In fact the whole comedian thing after a wild is tiring I mean can he be serious for one moment? By the way he is a pretty decent mbonda player I didn't expect that

he used to play mbonda as reserve and do animation as reserve aswell at dakumuda's group  in his early professional career
Dakumuda....that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. I wonder what he's up to these days.

42 born in 1980
Thanks....other than Bill, Tutu, maybe Celeo, i don't see too many successful atalakous.. they all come and go. At 42, he really shouldn't need to return to a band for stipends. But i also iknow it's hard out there....

how old is Gesac? Anyone knows?

Thanks.
Werra and WMM got a longer playtime than the other groups.

And Thierry Mongratana doesn't get enough credit as a good soloist. I don't think his stint in WMMM was his style.

This came across my Amazon music "might like" list and I did. I like the introduction where the Fioti Fioti girls were doing their own mabanga (i think) to different artists (Koffi, Werra, Kester, JB etc..)
It was a good concert concept and showed that Papa Wemba was cool with most popular Congolese artists. Not sure if this was before his fight with Koffi or after but never the less, I liked the concept.
Al Patchino was a great atalaku.. he did others cries well.

Looking for the full video (part 1 and 2). Thanks.

Congolese Music / Re: CELEO... WAS ACTUALLY BETTER THAN BILL
« on: March 10, 2022, 17:31 »
Any rebuttal to the above statement by Mfumu Vata that Bill is the king? lol?

to be honest, if you want the old WMMM to do a concert today, majority of the people will ask for Bill first, then Celeo, not the other way around.

This will be big and great...I hope they really can pull this off. Fans are waiting to see.

I listen to Meiwey since his Zoblazo days in the 90s. He's got lost of good songs to include this one with  Koffi Olomide

Congolese Music / The solo of this sebene is ahead of its time
« on: January 17, 2022, 12:02 »
Just listening to some old songs when this came on. I don't know who did the solo to this song but the fast lick which Flamme is known for is done here but in the 80s already (@7:19 mark). Anyone knows who's on the lead and is this guy LIKINGA Rédo  still in music?

Congolese Music / This guy won't last as an atalakou
« on: January 08, 2022, 15:53 »
It's known fact that tenor atalakous don't last except a few. This guy (I don't know his name) has been screaming since his works in Robhino's generiques. He's still doing it. He did it in Dindology and was off key. I don't why he's not being advised to bring it down some. Fagrigas should see this. Maybe it's just me. At the 43:25 mark
Is he officially replacing Fabriga's tenor atalakou?

Congolese Music / Re: Theo Mbala
« on: January 02, 2022, 20:47 »
I dunno it’s close. I feel like Theo is a better leader in the atakalu world. He is carried cries on many albums himself. Celeo and Bill is the combo that beat remember really.

Back then, single atalakous had a very huge repertoire of animations. The ones todays are one hit wonders and no band or singer wants to have one single atalakou. At least two or ten (Fally) lol
