Who's better Emeneya or Madilu ? Madilu already started his career in the early 70s. But gain popularity in 1980 when singing Non in 1983. Madilu sung many succesful songs of Luambo and Simaro when being a member of TP OK Jazz, later on he released succesfull solo-albums (Sans Commentaire, 1995, l'Eau, Pouvoir, Bonheur & Bonne Humeur). The songs in those are succesfull rumba's who are until this day played at weddings. Songs like Ya Jean, Just un peu d'amour decastro, Aminatta & Si Je s'avais ca). He made also songs that were talking about the society, such as Mokonzi, Frere Edouard, Sans Effet, Assistant Social, Vieux Samy, Manuele Samuele, etc.

Emeneya on his side started his career in the mid 70s. He joined Viva La Musica in 1977, but gained popularity in 1978 when Bipoli, Julva, Esperant Kisangani and Jadot le Cambodgien left to form Karawa Musica. He made many succesful songs there Dikando, Ngonda, Teint de Bronze, Dembela, etc. He also led Viva La Musica 3 times during Papa Wemba long absences in 1979 when he joined Tabu Ley's Afrisa and his long trips in Europe 1977 & 1982. He left Viva La Musica in 1982 to form with 11 musicians Victoria Eleison. His popularity made him quickly become the main star of the band, which created some frustation and many leave to form Victoria Principal. It made Emeneya end up being the main leader of Victoria Eleison. Like in Victoria Eleison he made many hits, songs like Surmeanage, Kimpiatu, Nzinzi, Okosi Nga Mfumu and also sung in songs of his guitarists Tofla Kitoko (RIP) and Safro Manzangani. From 1982 to 1988 he was the artist with the most fans in Zaire. He gave sold out shows in Kinshasa and the rest of Zaire and managed to tour in Africa when releasing Nzinzi. He was also the first artist to perform in Stade des Martyrs in 1997. Differently from Madilu, he managed to bring his band twice to Europe, in 2001 when he performed at Zenith, few months later at Olympia and in 2008 when he again performed at Olympia. He also toured with his friends of the 'real' Victoria Eleison in 1984, 1986 and 1987. In 1991 he settled Victoria Eleison in Europe.

Apart that he also influenced a whole generation, where many youngsters trying to copy his voice. Singers like Stino Mubi, Werrason (before using his own voice), Marie Paul, Jean Apocalyps, etc. In the 80s and 90s he used also be a big trendsetter as sapeur. Many started to wear Masatomo and Versace because of him (he forgot the other bands of the 80s). Through his band,  dances like Pain na Pain (unfortunaley came after Mboka Mboka, which made other bands taking advantage to use it), Kiwanzenza, Tchaku Libondas, Enterrement "Salle des morts" and Pigeon became popular

For me, it would be Madilu System. However I must say this. Kester Emeneya and Madilu should have sung together alongside Papa Wemba. Kester, Madilu and Wemba would have been a dangerous trio together. They should have done a project in 1989 period when Madilu was in nzonzing mood. For me, I would give these three men nine songs. Here are the songs I would have selected for them.

Pesa Position from Madilu

Sumenage from Kester Emeneya

Arc de Triomphe from Papa Wemba

Basambisa yo from Madilu

Okosi Ngai Mfumu from Kester Emeneya

Loni from Papa Wemba

Mama Akoma kotekisa from Zaiko Langa Langa (Nono)

Ngobila from Koffi Olomide

Amour Infini Bakutu from Choc Stars (Djo Mali)

I think that it was better to create a new thread about it, since that Ya' Def isn't buried yet. Defao have many songs. He used to release sometimes 3/4 albums each year and in Choc Stars he also released plenty EP's.
