Upon his departure from BCBG, Alain Mpela had everything to become 5eme leader. He had a talented band, Generation A – Christian Solo, Mi Amour Gaylor, and others.

Where did things go wrong? If you were in his circle during that time, what would have been the best advice he should of followed for a successful solo career?

If I'm not mistaken, Koffi even supported him behind the scenes and that likely contributed to the polemic with JB Mpiana.

In my opinion, his collaboration album was his last chance at solo success. However, the promotion for that album was terrible. I remember by the time I found out he released an album with Bouro, Danger De Mort was already on the market.

How are albums properly promoted? Should Alain Mpela have focused on establishing a fan base by region of Kinshasa similar to how Werra and JB did when they broke off from Wenge 4x4?

to make it short three factors for me made the alain mpela project not reach expectations
first being his excessive taste of luxury which he could have sacrificed for a moment and which he would have naturally regained once songs catched success and brought contracts and the fact he went to overstay in europe, second he faced upset of a lot of donors for having allegedly had affairs with their girls and upset of hardcore bcbg donors and fans too, third he was not resilient enough
thinking about it out of the first crop of solo artists until 2010 of the three four which had a decent run until 2010 fally was probably the one who had the shortest period of constant fight around him having latino's fanbase behind him so alain was not resilient enough, almost every artist or many artists since alain mpela until now faced things like concert promotion banners ripped and many things like that to unsettle them  but those who remained the most consistent in the long run obviously fally ferre in that generation went through that and fought it and won
the mental resilience factor is big in congolese music,we can go back decades before them,an ex leader or for example  the luambo verckys rochereau would not offer you on a plate all the space to  have peacefully your career like that without interfering in any type of form
another example of the lack of resilience is tata, tata could not handle visa rejected the way jb took it and went through it until he saw  it end,his career has never been the same ever since that he almost lost interest in music at some point
on the other side you have guys like wazekwa  who like him is not the most talented singer out there but whose mindset maintained him in the discussion of music for a longer time,as he decided that whatever comes at him he'd take a step back from music only the day himself decides like the 2 years of writing he took, whereas tata ever since he was hit has not  been far from being a part time musician for 15+ years

For me the two biggest losses we had solo career wise after Jb and Werra and before Fally and Ferre is Sam Tshintu and Afande. Those two were the most complete musicians and had promising careers but it just wasn't meant to be.

But at least Sam Tshintu cemented his role as leader by Viagra and released 4 Coins Kandala having appropriated the band completely. He was just unlucky that the ngulu affaire stopped his ability to capitalize on the success of 4 Coins,

Unlike Alain Mpela who released a flop EP and had to do a collaboration album with Bouro, with assistance of his band Generation A. Not even a proper solo album, which he never returned to Kinshasa to promote.

Are Alain Mpela and JB Mpiana friends again? I don't think I've seen them together in a while, is all forgiven?

Alain Mpela and JB Mpiana are cool since 2007.

After Mortel Combat, Alain Mpela was preparing an album called Feuille de Route that he planned for 2007. But having failed already twice made it difficult for him be taken seriously. People focussing more on Ferre Gola and Fally Ipupa who just started to have succes with their first albums. Alain Mpela planned to record the album with his band, but for whatever reason he wasn't returning to Kinshasa. Bandmembers already leaving one by one. Christian Solo and Miel de Son joining Wenge Maison Mere and even his cousin Ronsard Kanza leaving (joining Fally Ipupa). Not long after it there were rumors about a return in Wenge BCBG, but he didn't happen. It started to be quit around Alain Mpela  until that he decided to move to US for a moment in 2009 for some playback shows in the US with his brother Bouro Mpela. In that period once again a return of Alain Mpela in Wenge BCBG was rumored, but it didn't happen. After that Alain Mpela changed the album title he was working on into Fleche Empoisnée and signed with Mpova Music. However people weren't taking him serious anymore, his small playbacks shows in Europe not being succes, guys that started their solo-career later like Fally Ipupa had already done Zenith & Olympia, Ferre Gola also having done Zenith and brought his band twice to Europe, artists like Kabose, Didier Lacoste and Mirage having some succes, etc. Alain Mpela saw that things weren't going well with music and decided to stop with music and focus on politics. He tried to run as a deputy in 2011. Unfortunately for him he lost and you know how Congolese people are when you fail.

What qualification did he have to run for deputy? Does Alain Mpela even have a univeristy degree? It seems like he was a full-time musician since Kalayi Boeing, what time did he have to prepare for a serious career in politics?

Is there a 6eme generation of musicians? Could Inoss'B claim that being as young and popular as he currently is?

I only know that he finished his secondary education and received his diploma back in 1991. I don't think went to university after it, because he was an important member after Kin E Bouge being there in every concert and going in 1992 to Europe. I only know that back in 2017 he said that he restarted school and was studying Brussels doing International Relations (Political Science). But Alain lies often alot of impress people, lol. About being a deputy, you don't have to be in possesion of an university degree, because back in 2006 and 2011 many people coming from Europe and former musicians ran campaign while never heaving an university degree. Even Papa Wemba's wife Amazone tried to become a deputy in 2006 (she hadn't even secondary school, because of getting married when being 14) .

I don't know. Because there a confusion right now. Many saying now that the real 5eme generation just started because of  Inoss B and that he's the head of it. Back in 2007, Werrason and JB Mpiana were already saying that Fally Ipupa and Ferre Gola weren't forming G5 and just 4eme Generation like them, but many people and including the press saw them as haters and being jealous of their succes.

alain went to university in kinshasa when he returned to kinshasa and studied international relationships until one year before licence, which he came to continue in belgium but i think his health issues slowed it
