One of the silliest allegations back in the day when WMN fans were the Warriors of today. He has classic cris/song on each the albums he participated on, as shown by the engagement of the audience
Im starting to see more and more albums being removed from the streaming platforms, which is very concerning. A lot of the albums are from smaller artists/groups, so finding a physical CD is damn near impossible
Just like a lot of the post-independence EP/LP records that were lost due to defunct record labels, albums from 90’s-2000’s will get lost as well . This is supposed to be the purpose of SOCODA rather than making Jossart and co millionaires every year
Ya vieux Bouboule Iyondela - Despite their turbulent relationship in recent years - this is the product of being being close for decades same mannerisms
The Effrakata/Generation Bercy period had so much “aura” as we say nowadays
Back then albums had a theme, which stemmed from a concept presented in coulisses VHS/DVDs and interviews with a backstory to everything - recording of all songs done in short period, consistent outfits themes, and clips. Nowadays artists record albums over a 3-4 year period (longer in the case of BCBG) and throw it all into an album driven by whoever paid most for mabanga
I presume this song was recorded in Kin. If so, the studios in Kin have come a very long way - the acoustics are excellently tuned and on par with the quality of French studios
This is usually not my type of générique, but this one is well done. This track was slept on when it released last summer
I finally got my hands on this album in CD format. I highly recommend this album if you haven't heard it - it's good combination of rhumba and sebene songs recorded in the top Studio Harryson.
I guess the album being produced by a small player like KTC really hurt the album's chance of being more known to the public, or to be on streaming. Definitely a "what if" situation, if Madilu hadn't gotten sick in the years following because this group was very talented
I don’t know if it’s just me… I have my rotation of what we collectively agree are classics or good albums from mainly the late 80’s - mid 2000’s, but after a while I can’t keep listening to the same albums every couple weeks.
There’s been so few great releases this decade - even knowing what to play at parties is challenging, because you can’t keep playing old classics with young folks around.
The last party I was at it was Zebuka, some Formule 7 rhumba, and some Dyanstie Vol 1 for the songs from recently, then it was French/Nigerian music the rest of the night… at a Congolese party
With the 4/5th generation leaders and Koffi having a monopoly of the media coverage, there is so much talent in DRC going unnoticed
For a change, I try to listen to the French diaspora artists (the usual stars), but the music lacks depth and often sounds very similar to one another. So I quickly get bored and revert back to the genre. Same situation with Nigerian music
I don’t know where things will go to end the decade, but at the moment nothing seems to be on the horizon to change the situation
The music scene was down so bad during this period that we the public let this become viral. I wasnt tracking, but I believe it spawned 1-2 remixes equally as cringe
At the time, the way the song went viral completely overshadowed 13ème Apotre being a flop for being uninspired and an excessively long collection of songs that wouldn’t have made the album cut in his prime. He went on press tours just for this song.
I personally still haven’t had the time or energy to fully listen to the album. But I will say some of the génériques were actually decent and should have been promoted
BCBG came out swinging hard when this EP came out in the ‘99 holiday season, carrying the momentum from Zenith/Olympia… we all know the path of the band later on, but at this point they were the upcoming band that had other leaders worried
Looks like his Paris wardrobe was put up for donation (actually dumping), if reports are correct. I don’t know what Koffi did to Clepin Mbila (aside from being Aliya’a cousin), but he’s been particularly ruthless with the shade/taunting
Still some of the best drumming I’ve heard on a live album. He literally played his heart out and had to be replaced by Champion and another session drummer mid-way through
He’s become my favorite dancer in Kin. He brings so much satirical energy and charisma to Robinio’s band - even the rhumbas in repetitions he manages to make entertaining. The dedicated male danser was a lost art from the mid 2000’s till recently - i hope other bands follow. Lambio Lambio (RIP) and Zimbabwe (RIP) were the masters in recruiting unique dancers back in the day
