How is it that this clip came in 2 versions with 2 different recordings? Why did they record it twice?

Back in the days, artists would sometimes record clips before the release of the album and the clips often having not the sound of the end product. For example if you listen to Kalayi Boeing-clip version that got broadcasted on Tele Zaire, you will notice that it’s different from the album-version (especially the end, where the keyboard-partition comes a bit later in). The clip used to be on INA Congo’s channel as “Wenge Musica – Kalayi Boeing (Version Tonton Skol 1992)”, but it disappeared, it was just the same clip, but with a different sound and many shout-outs not being included and the lines of Ekokota being a bit different.

About Solange I don’t know. Defao would sometimes release 2 versions of albums and the producers distributing them, sometimes only in Europe or a part of Africa. Maybe that the second video was done when the album came out and the second video as one of the videoclips from the album of Solange, because there were one or another clips done in the same appartement.

Koffi did the same thing now that I think about it. Noblesse Oblige (Papa Plus) the VHS & CD sound different more. On Papa Plus, Miss De Miss, very apparent on Miss De Miss on VHS… I think I may be forgetting a few. Even on the Loi album, Micko on the CD & VHS sound completely different

I totally prefer the VHS version of Noblesse Oblige

It also important to note that with songs from in Europe-recorded albums had 4 versions or sometimes 6 version and the artist himself choosing with version would end up on the album. Papa Wemba would often perform the alternate version of Reference, when having guitarist/arranger Maika Munan on stage and explaining the public that the original version being the way how they are playing. Wenge Maison Mère with Solola Bien, had one version of the generique with tropical keyboard-parition and sound of it being higher than the lead-guitar. There was also a version without keyboards with Bill Clinton doing the Mbuji Mayi-Kananga cri, but it was not finished and there were no mabanga's. It used to be on Naelis-youtube channel, but it dissapeared. Koffi Olomidé would sometimes pick alternate versions of his songs for his clip. For example, the videoclip of Non Assistance that came out on the Mokonzi-VHS sounds totally different from the album version (I am not talking about the DVD version, which has the CD-sound).

With Loi, he just decided to release an EP with the alternate versions he used for the Micko and SOS-clips. In Droit de Veto, he just used the alternate version of Sens Inverse to release months later a remix version of it, when Guy Ngolondole asked him to dedicate the song to him and his wife Anissa, modifiying the text a bit to add their songs. In the song you will notice that chorus of Sam Tshintu, Babia and co also sung a part of Koffi's lead vocal.
