Koffi Olomide has had a long career. He started out as a songwriter but his idol Tabu Ley and Franco wanted nothing to do with him. It was Papa Wemba who actually helped him and that partially explains why Koffi hates Wemba so much.
That story is false. He wasn't intresseted in them. Where do you get those stories? Everybody who was close of Koffi in 70's knows that that he was a huge fan of Evoloko, like every youngster in that era. Koffi wanted to write songs for Evoloko and became close to Zaiko-members Bimi Ombale and Papa Wemba via his brother Johnny Co. Koffi tried to approach Evoloko and to offer him songs when Wemba, Manvuela Somo and Bozi left him to create Yoka Lokole. But Evoloko rejected his offer, because he saw him as a "yuma". After some time he was contacted by Wemba, who wanted to get songs,after having been fired from Yoka Lokole. Viva-members like Emeneya, Djanana, Patcho Star told the "shy" Koffi that he could began a musical-carreer after writing many songs for Wemba. So he decided to record Princesse Synza with Papa Wemba & Viva La Musica.
Koffi doesn't hate Wemba, he's only angry that Wemba talks the last times very bad about him on tv. It's maybe Wemba who hates Koffi. Believe it or not, but Koffi had a lot of admidiration for Wemba. He create/created against Wemba in the past to be in the spotligths. The only moment when Koffi really hated Wemba, was when Alpatshino and Bendoson insulted him, his head(mutu-nguba) and his mother during the Fula-Ngenge-era. That time the beef went out of control and resulted in strong spiritual attacks and the artitsts attacking each other very strong in albums and interviews
I heard Koffi not so long ago say that he gave Bimi Ombale two songs, what would those be?
Certainly one of his best songs. The poetry and illusions throughout are the mark of someone very educated

He comes after Lutumba in my opinion as one of the greatest writers in Congolese music
Didier Milla wrote for Wazekwa as well in his first album. Songs like Bleu D'esperance, Elanga Lilas, Bizwen Chale and Bon Depart are Milla's writing while the rest of the album was written by Wazekwa himself.

Sans Anesthesie, Kamutshima, Festival, Yaka Alex. He told me about how Mascot de Katalas used to write for Koffi as well. La Ruta for example is Mascot de Katalas' composition
I was on a call with Eldorado today and he revealed to me that Civilisé and Koweit Rive Gauche sung by Koffi are his compositions. He told me that Wazekwa lied about being the songwriter of Koweit Rive Gauche
Fally knows a few chords and a couple of licks, that's it. Koffi is a musician. Beniko Popolipo and many other musicians can testify to the prowess of Koffi Olomidé.
