I see that he hasn't performed in Ivory Coast for 11 years now, was it the lack of promoters or he had private issues that kept him away from Ivory Coast for that long?

After Malewa Suite et Fin, his albums didn’t had enough succes there like those of Koffi, Fally and Ferre. In reality it’s 20 years, because when he came there in 2012 it was not his own concert, but a festival called Femua organised by Alsafo of Magic System where  several artists were invited. The last time he came there was in 2001. Werrason’s succes was more in Central and East Africa. Abidjan was the playground of Koffi and Extra Musica. Even JB M’piana had more succes than him but he lost everything when that hiatus from 2001 came.

Between 2002 to 2006 several artists didn’t perform in Ivory Coast anymore because  of the civil war there. Then when the peace returned Koffi being the first followed by Extra Musica, Koffi himself again (back then he was performing every year in Abidjan) and then Fally. In 2010 you again war until 2011.

Merci Mfumu. I thought Cote D'ivoire was a spiritual  confirmation as well as traditional rumba musician playground country were concerts for big artists like Nsone would be a given every year. Just as Angola and Congo Brazza are.

I saw the crowd really enjoying the show. Plus the energy was immense. But surprisingly the "official" position of this forum is that his band is dead. So who is the fool here?

To be fair - it's always been fairly easily to impress/entertain the Ivorian audience compared to DRC, where the home crowd is very seasoned to the music with concerts every week

WMM is still a good band when they (Werra first) are motivated to put out a decent production

Fair enough comment.....but even within DRC, which other band beats WMM in terms of energy, consistency of repetitions and concerts? Have we had  many or just any one or two poorly attended Maison Mere concerts in DRC?

the three remaining of the big 4 still pull crowds(albeit not as crazy as in the sponsorship era) and obviously werra's music is the most energetic by nature, the difference is that these days musicians of groups hardly ever become stars properly, people have all eyes on leaders, who for the oldest, are less interested in active promotion of talents because of "ungratefulness"
they have set the bar so high that people might exaggerate it when they are now seeing them not under fast flowing constant artistic spotlight because the younger generation in their prime are sharing part of the spotlight and are facing challenges which they passed long ago themselves
