Congolese Music / Re: Koffi & Ado yuhe
« on: July 25, 2020, 21:15 »
Koffi just came to promote his U-Arena show, to attack Ado Yuhe and react against his former musicians (also Lidjo Kwempa), while Ado Yuhe wanted to ask questions about his career (his question he asked about his early career were so weak, Koffi himself came with the story of Historia Musica). Koffi himself wasn't really concentrated when Ado was asking why he went to refresh Quartier Latin around 1990 with Suzuki, Rocky Blanchard and co, saying that he wanted his own band with Vieux Veron and co. Also when Ado asked him about his first Zenith & Olympia, he came with that he forgot about Licoln Center (while that was in 2001) and that Zenith was bad because combattans came with dogs to prevent to come to his concert (he was talking about his last Zenith, when the combattans were mad that he performed in Rwanda during the civil war of Laurent Nkunda). Koffi himself also forgot many things about his own career. Because when he started singing, he was still a student, recording his first songs Asso, Samba Samba, Princesse Synza during holidays (1978 & 1979). The moment that he re-started his career was with the songs he recorded with Langa Langa Stars and Zaiko Langa Langa, he just recorded 2 with Viva La Musica (Mille Soucis and Ekila Maze). You can also feel that he in reality didn't want to talk about Papa Wemba, but that Ado's questions forced him to do that.

Himself Ado sometimes doesn't know where he's talking about. Because he says that when Koffi was about to perform at Olympia, ADFL came on power. But that isn't true, since that ADFL was already 1 year on power at that time. The problem was that Quartier Latin wasn't able to return to Kinshasa, because the civil-war started,  DR Congo closing all his broaders and people in Kinshasa started to burn people in the streets and also not having food, water and electricity anymore because of the RCD-rebels being supported by Rwanda having cut the Inga-dam and almost entering Kinshasa to overthrow Laurent Desire Kabila.

I think you meant Dejeannot Nsangu of Super Choc de Shora Mbemba, because Jeannot Ngidingongi is the one who used to animate for Madilu.

The succes of 19 Minutes de Ngwasuma and Malgre Tout really overshadowed this generique

... and why is it that those from Matadi dont like being called Matadien? My elder brother told me of an incident he witnessed here in Zambia when Quartier Latin was here on tour somewhere around 2000 or 2001 when Jordan Kusa referred to Gyspon  as Matadien at the hotel and it ended in a fight between the two because Gypson didn't like being called Matadien?

Jordan Kusa always just to bully Gipson for that, seeing him as a yuma and mbokatier on same time. I remember watching years ago the QL’s 14th Anniversary concert at GHK, Gipson waiting to get the mic to give some shout-puts, Jordan then refusing to give it and Koffi suddenly clapping in his hands for GHK.

Emeneya went trought same thing, when he joined Viva La Musica. Which made him being ashamed to say that he was born in Kikwit, the time that he was n2 in Viva La Musica and his prime-time in Victoria Eleison. It’s only when tribalism became strong during the  the late 2000s, that he started to reveal it.

Bandal must be a special place, because so many musicians claim that quartier with such pride

It’s not special, its a normal place but the Wenge generation has been hyping their area alot and it becoming stronger when Fally and co came, while in past it was seen as normal and areas/quarters like Kintambo, Binza, Kasa Vubu (K-V), Yolo, Gombé, N’djili & Matongé being more popular. before that it was Matongé who was the most popular from the 70s until the late 90s.

The people in Ngiri-Ngiri are furious against Ferre Gola for ignoring them, claiming that he's from Bandalungwa to counter Fally.

So Ferre came from Selembao (the Kitokomosi or Mitendi quarter) before coming to Ngiri-Ngiri ? Some people say that he was born in Kintambo other Lingwala or is the story that he's in reality from Boma or Matadi true (they are apparently also furious against him) ?

Why are Congolese artists like that ? Reddy always claims that he's from Yolo, while he's from Makala.  Don't they know that can push their area to the top, like Thythy le Vallois did with Masina and those old bana poto with N'djili ? Ngiri Ngiri isn't even a bad area, alot of artists come from Ngiri Ngiri.

Serge Mabiala greeting his fans, talking about his song and also indirectly reacting against WMM’s staff who were saying that they would recruit another 2eme voix singer to punish him, the moment that he would return to Kinshasa. He also calmed people down, who heard that he left for moment during the tour (Adjani, Japonais & Serge Mabiala left for a moment).

Was Jitrois his replacement?

Yes, he was contacted when he was with Wenge Tonya Tonya in Europe, but he preffered to join them the moment he would be in Kinshasa. His recruiment created a huge buzz, because he started to become a key-member in Wenge Tonya Tonya and also because people were wondering who could really replace Serge, after that he decided to stay in Europe (being afraid to return, despite Werrason pushing him). Adolphe reacted furious like usually, because losing again an important member and sended his spokeman Mbonzo to attack him.

Back at that era, Jitrois was called Gianfranco, but Werrason changed his name into Jitrois (both names being names of expensive designer clothes).

the cover look like a single cover from the late 90's/early 2000s of an upcoming R&B artist.

The album was produced by JPS Productions, but had zero promotion, because it got released when Jean Pierre Saah ran away from France. The police was looking for him, because of being a intermediary of a mafia-gang in Miami, using his company JPS Production for money laundering.

its after Z1 and before his return to extra zangul, but he was given very hostile by the guys who were trying to force alain mpela out and were seeing a singer from brazza coming and potentially becoming another threat

Yeah, he left Z1 after war about leadership against Durrel and decided to form his own band. He recorded an EP which had Zaparo de Guerre on the animation. But the EP, which made people say that he isn’t a real leader with some saying that it would be better for him to rejoin Extra Musica or joining a band in Kinshasa to get more experience. He choose Wenge BCBG, which was a very bad mistake and JDL (always him) giving him a hard time
