That happended frequently in Congolese music-scene about leaders calling their collagues to not bring their former-musician to Europe and them ending up by rejoining their old band. King Kester Emeneya for example did it in the 80s, asking Ben Nyamabo to leave Safro Manzangi behind in Kinshasa when they were about to tour in Europe and Safro ending up by rejoining Victoria Eleison.

Why do they do that?, What will happen if the band did not return?

I don't know. But those cases are very rare in the Congolese music-bands. Only Afrisa (1990-1993 before moving to the US until 1997), Viva La Musica (1987 until it disbanded in 2004), Victoria Eleison (1991-1997) and Zaiko Langa Langa (2002-2009) went to stay for a long time in Europe moving their head there for a few years.

Leaders calling their collegue to not bring their musicans, are mostly those who are in their prime and the musicians being one of the keymembers.

Just a few months. When Bozi was about to tour in Europe, Koffi called him to say that he had to leave Babia behind in Kinshasa. Then after a few weeks when Quartier Latin came back from their long Europe-tour that lasted 8 months, Babia rejoined because Koffi couldn't find a tenorist of his level (Eric Tutsi being suspended for his behaviour).

Was Eric Tutsi a cokehead or alcoholic? Wtf has his problem lol

Koffi used Eric Tutsi's pic in the Ultimatum-booklet. Was that the trip where he became ill because of drugs ? Because according Suzuki in an interview he once made after being mad at Fally & Eric, he almost died when they once to Kenya.

This 1996 trip to Kenya, was the same trip where they recorded Ultimatum, having Pathy Bass &  Rocky Blanchard (they apparently argued there and at one concert even playing without bass for a long time, because of Koffi not wanting to have him on stage. I remember Kenyas on a rumba-facebook page claiming that the argument was about Miette Shegue.) on the bass, Coco Tchomba & Champion Djikapela on the drums, Lebou Kabuya, Do Akongo, Felly Tyson, Beniko Popolipo on the guitars, Ondo on the keyboards, Nseka on the conga's, the atalaku combo Dolce Somono and Mbosshi and the dangerous singing section of Babia Ndonga, Eric Tutsi, Sam Tshintu, Willy Bula, Modogo Ambarambwa and Suzuki Luzubu. The really wondeer how the duet of Koffi & Babia was on the original version of Zahina and also Eric Tutsi song (according Rocky Blanchard they Koffi punished Babia who was then the main star by not giving him a song on this album, because of coming late and sometimes even not showing up at rehearshals)..

Sam Tshintu once said in an interview with Addy Londole that Koffi lost the recording-files of that album (or maybe he furious and him not wanting to release that version, after hearing that Babia Ndonga joined Anti Choc and that he was about to tour in Europe and Willy Bula joining Zaiko Langa Langa), which forced them to record a new version in Paris in a few days without Coco Tchomba, Lebou Kabuya, Rocky Blanchard, Pathy Bass and Eric Tutsi who all stayed in Kinshasa. Giving Binda Bass the opportunity to play bass on that album and the new recruited Bouro Mpela and Sam Tshintu doing a few vocals who were orginally done by Willy Bula, Babia and Eric Tutsi. Koffi adding Dessin Anime which he erased from the Magie-tracklist after Scola Miel's departure and modifing it by adding some vocals and keyboards of Ondo. However, Koffi still thanked sound-engineer Bruce Ochieng and Creative Studio Nairobi in the Ultimatum-booklet.

I never knew Eric Tutsi was supposed to have a song in Ultimatum. Was he supposed to sing Dulcinée ? Suzuki said that Eric Tutsi had that song 1994 but i don't know if it's true.

So Sam wasn't supossed to have many vocals in Ultimatum. Was his song Shambouyi popular back then ? (Because you told me that he wasn't as famous as Suzuki, Willy Bula,Modogo, Babia & Eric Tutsi because he didn't have a vocal to his name)

I think it's sad too i would love to hear the 1996 version of Ultimatum with almost the same squad of Magie.

I don't know if Dulcinee was susposed to be on Ultimatum. The only thing I know is that  musicians always come with 2 or 3 song when they prepare a group-album and some songs being released years later. . That's also why for example many former Maison Mere know a some songs that Ferre Gola released in his solo albums already (Court Ciruit, Vieux Jaloux and co), because were already sung and prepared in rehearshals at La Zamba Playa. The folkloric song Mamu of Sam Tshintu that they sung in Academia, was also already prepared in Quartier Latin and some verses being sung in concerts when performing Shambouyi.

Shambouyi was one of the hits of Magie, after Petit Na London, Amen, Detresse, Julia and Meslian. Sam Tshintu was not a star, Sam became a star after that Ultimatum got released with his song Miss Nicole. Back in 1995 people were paying attention to Babia Ndonga, Willy Bula, Suzuki and Eric Tutsi. There was an interview of Sam Tshintu made by a not popular youtube-channel in 2017 or 2016, explaining that he joined Quartier Latin after that Koffi Olomide came to visit his rehearshal (he was the president of Flash Musica). When he came they were already preparing Magie, but Koffi gave him immediatly the chance to put a song in the album (Shambouyi). He also travalled with them to Brazzaville, where they recorded Magie at Studio IAD. But wasn't giving the opportunity of putting vocals, indirectly saying that he wasn't on that level of singing like the rest of the band, just doing "voix temoins" (like Rolly Mayemba likes to say) and them being interpreted by somebody else (some say that it was Shulay other say that it was Tuzeose). I'm still trying to find that video to share i, because on youtube and on this forum that say that its Sam Tshintu, but that he changed his voice. After that album he tried to work with Babia Ndonga on his singing-skills, however he was left behind for the Europe tours of 1994 & 1995. But his hard work finally paid off and he was giving the opportunity to tour with Quartier Latin in 1997, doing the role of tenorist because Eric Tutsi and Babia being left behind and becoming even Chef d'Orchestre after Beniko Popolipo's departure.

The story of Sam and Magie has always been the biggest mystery. He said last year that he had vocals on Magie and even sang on the song Meslian, but then he once said years ago that he didn't sing so he needs to stick to one story.

But that being said he can adapt and change his voice to that's in Magie, especially in the album Viagra on the song Zabalumbu he uses same Magie voice, so I don't know at this point. I was hoping he would go to Ado Yuhe and finally clear it up once and for all.

the easy way to settle this is if it's not him singing on magie who is it?

There are people that say that it was Chou Lay (Evoloko's son).

How come Sam was left behind between Europe tours in 1994-1995? We would've love to see Sam, Modogo, Babia and Eric in Magie clips. It would've been so perfect.

I just realised there are so many concerts we have not seen online! I also look at the picture, that outfit was Magie-era, but I am confused because Nono ba diamant is in that picture, and she only started appearing during the V12 Era

True, maybe she joined in early 1995. Very rare!
