Congolese Music / Birth of Wenge
« on: September 28, 2013, 12:57 »
Any variations here

The Birth of Wenge Musica:
On 16 July 1981 in Kinshasa ( DRC ), in the municipality of Bandalungwa (commonly known Bandal), a group of college friends still gathered around Didier Masela Ndudi, get an orchestra without first name and called Wenge Musica . This name, in addition to the reference to black wood product in Central Africa , was chosen by analogy with a local football team "Wenge" which delighted his talent implantation area, although the victories were not regular. The epithet "Musica" is simply a tribute to their musical idols, Papa Wemba and Kester Emeneya the legendary Viva la Musica . Didier Masela Ndudi, bassist, is the founder alongside Alain Aimé Bwanga and Mwanga. A feature of the band is that it only recruits young people educated one . It includes in the early years, singers Werrason Ngiama (also host dances parts), JB Mpiana , Machiro Kifaya, Dede Masolo "Deno Star" Blaise Bula Monga "Cielebu" Anicet Pandu "Anibo" Wes Koka, Adolphe Dominguez .

The instrumental part is provided by Aimé Bwanga (bass), Alain Mwanga "Zing-Zong" (solo guitar), Alain Makaba (guitarist and keyboardist), Christian Zitu (rhythm guitar), or Evo Nsiona, drummer, Ladin Montana Maradona and Lotomba (both drummeurs). Their first rehearsal and performance live is the bar na Moto Moto.
Until the year 1985-1986, the group is not a hobby holiday for all students as musicians. The comings and goings are legions, and very few members hope to make music a real livelihood. In 1986, the growing rise of Wenge Musica reputation allows him to play up curtains artists and orchestras Zaire at the time known as Choc Stars (one of Defao stars will be of great material assistance) or Langa Langa Stars . Young musicians come for the first time in the studio to record some of their creations which Kin é Shake (version 1) JB Mpiana, Baby Aké na ye Zing-Zong or Laura 2 Blaise Bula, Ginette, without this leads to an album.

Logically, the backbone of the band changes with the departure of some of the original members as Anicet Pandu ("anibo charm"), Dede Masolo, Christian Zitu, Alain Mwanga "Zing-Zong", Aime Bwanga continue their studies in France and Belgium. Wes Koka, meanwhile converted to Christian music. The new arrivals are subject to testing and new faces appear in 1985, guitarist Djolina Mandudila then, in late 1986, the singers ricoco Bulambemba (the orchestra rival "We had kaka" He just had-) and Alain Mpélasi. Anecdote for the recruitment of the latter became, in November 1986, through a chance meeting with Werrason in Kinshasa 3 . The young man of fifteen at the time and living in Matete , spent his vacation Bandal .

One afternoon, while he hummed a song by Victoria Eleison of Kester Emeneya in the street near the house of his aunt, Werrason visited nearby the crosses and interested in what he intends to address. He then convinces them to follow him to the headquarters of Wenge Musica and present it to the staff who immediately accepts his young voice. You should know that Victoria Eleison is a reference in the rhythm and sound of Wenge Musica which is largely based.

In 1987, Wenge Musica plays for the first time in a televised concert at Studio Mom Angebi Kinshasa 4 . After this production, will take the photographs that will be used to illustrate the cover of the first album, Move-Move. Young musicians increase their popularity among young fans and new sounds. Thanks to the dedication of Alain Mabaka, JB and Werrason Mpiana, the group is growing. The soloist has indeed several entries from producers through his collaborations with Zaiko Langa Langa for whom he played synthesizer in the albums between 1987 and 1990 (including Longindo are Kassapard JP Buse and Feeling Bimi Bimi Ombale 6 ) . JB and Werrason Mpiana shape singing and musical character animations giving the orchestra. In addition, this year 1987 a new talented singer joins the attack Wenge, Marie-Paul Kambulu well as mid-solo Blaise Kombo (student at ISC Gombe 7 ) and a second drummer, Pipo la Musica . End of 1987, the young tenor Manda Chante is also emerging.
It is in this growing popularity they record Bouger-Bouger , their first album.
In 1988 , appears in the Next Music label, Move-Move whose Mulolo 8 which means "cry", "new" is the featured song. This is the first success for the group. It is also one of the great mysteries, because of innconue authorship of the song quoted above, JB and Werrason Mpiana the arguing. Congo, Mulolo was elected song of the year and Wenge Musica musical revelation.

Congolese Music / Atalaku charisma
« on: September 05, 2013, 13:33 »
What types of charisma do atalakus have.Noticed when Genta is performing abroad he has an african charm like thing on his arm? Atalaku are described as charismatic mercurical member of a band who call dances though I think this is the initial description. The atalakus have colorful hairstyle weird clothes funny voices ( deep voices for very small size persons e.g. kabuya)
Do the atalakus also practise witchcraft?

Who is Eti Kimbukusu?

Congolese Music / Guitar Arrangment
« on: September 04, 2013, 15:21 »
I have noticed that some bands have a different guitar arrangement as opposed to the standard bass rhythm mi-solo and solo. JB has no mi-solo replacing with a synthesizer. Fally uses aacoustic guitar for rhythm. Some don't use mi-solo at all.
What reasons belies these choices do they make a band unique sound?
