Congolese Music / Re: Fashion Designers for Congolese Stars
« on: February 15, 2014, 21:38 »
DJ Sly, thank you, thank you very much. This is an eye opener. I never realized such mentality exists to that extent. I honestly thought a lot of the tailors in Kinshasa are knocking off some of the clothes for these guys and or maybe a few high ends are scattered in there somewhere. I have not sat down to watch all of it because I downloaded it to watch later fully. I will pass this link to a lot of us who are blinded to this fact.

Congolese Music / Fashion Designers for Congolese Stars
« on: February 15, 2014, 18:26 »
I see Congolese musicians with fashions at every turn and in Africa that. Who are the designers for these musicians, Koffi, Mpiana? Also Werrason is the worst fashionista Wazekwa is cool on his own. Do they employ Congo tailors or do they simply import everything including that of their dancers.

Congolese Music / Re: RIP KING KESTER EMENEYA

Sorry to read this sad news, I am sorry indeed.

Koffi Olomide found financial success therefore he is a victim of jealousy from his fellow musicians. The name he took as his stage name and him recognizing all his lineage has served him well because a lot of people know him outside of Congo than Karmapa. I have Karmapa albums and videos and I enjoy them, he is a fine musician, however, he has not realized financial success as Koffi Olomide and I think it is making him angry. I love Koffi, I love Karmapa and others.

Congolese Music / Re: NICE RUMBA BY JDT'S BROTHER GUELOR MULOPWE
« on: February 01, 2014, 16:50 »
Archos, thank you for this post. The music is great. However, the younger Congolese singers are borrowing clues from Koffi Olomide by finding talented singers with different tones and placing their turns at various parts of the song to create impact. This song, being a great could've been out of this world if he had gotten other singers to take part.

Hello to everyone on this forum. I am seizing this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year in advance. My heart goes out to the organizer of this forum, may God continues to give you wisdom along with each and everyone on this forum. IT IS NOT EASY BOUNCING BACK after Vibesdafrique was yanked off our feet. THANK YOU.

Also my great appreciation goes out to Archos, the voice of Congo Rumba in diaspora for his fantastic contributions.

Finally, Archos extend my shout out to my heat crusher, Markation. I hope all is fine with her and married life. Everytime I watch her clips, she puts Rumba back in Congo Rumba for me.

Deanglo.

What I have said and will say it again is that Ferre Gola appeals to those who understand Lingala mostly and that is why he has a share of fans. If you do not understand what Ferre Gola is singing about, you will pull out the CD. I do understand a few of what these guys sing about but come on guys, this music should be for everyone and that is why JB, Koffi, Werrason, Zaiko are loved by all people not just one group. I have gone to rhumba die hard clubs in Lusaka, a few Congolese will stand for a dance when Ferre's song is on but after one or two songs, you hear people cry for a Fally song, why? Fally Ipupa is not monotonous like Ferre Gola. Fally's songs have curves here and there and he sometimes adds a soloist to the song therefore, adding a sebene.

EMOBCBG, I couldn't have said it any better. It takes another descerning ear to understand. Until these younger artists stops trying to be at the top alone and start receuiting other talented voices to argument, they will not surpass the top tier. For example, Koffi Olomide was not afraid to recruit Jordan Kusa, Deo Brando and other that sound similar to him before that. It made his albums unforgiveably fantastic.

I am not into Ferre or Fally that much as I am with Koffi, Werra and JB. The later knows how to use musicians in blending songs.

Congolese Music / WHERE IS YEMIMA?
« on: October 15, 2013, 20:49 »
Guys, I know that Ron had contacted this forum earlier, when it was re-formed; is he on? I haven't read from more of his postings. Did Yemima completely drop off? She was our global event updater.

THIS IS VERY SAD IF IT IS TRUE. One wonders if the karma is catching up to Koffi. Here, you have a guy God blessed with fortunes beyond his wildest imaginations, preventing another from working hard to fullfill his own dreams. Look at Koffi id falling so fast. God is not by word of mounth, God looks at ones doings.
