in an ideal world for me any of our artists who got a trophy abroad would organize a party with his colleagues  and celebrate in fair play

Ernest Adjovi had debts to the South African-governement which made the editions of 2006 & 2007 being cancelled. In 2003 he had already problems because 70% of the sponsors didn’t want to renew the contracts after helping him on the editions of 1996, 97, 98, 99, 00, 01 & 02. So from then alot artists refused to come (Awilo, Werrason, etc.) because they had from then to pay airtickets by themselves. In 2008 the Kora Awards were held in Nigeria. In 2009 he had again problems with money and then former president of Burkina Faso (Blaise Compaore) bought the event. Kora Awards were then held in Burkina Faso in the spring of 2010, but it wasn’t the same anymore like in the past. After a 1 year hiatus, the Kora Awards were held for the last time in Ivory Coast in 2012. Chris Brown & Rihanna were invited for the event. But many people crtizised the event for the bad organisation. In 2013 Adjovi started give artists certificates which was like a pre-nomination for the Kora Awards of 2014. I remember Cindy Le Coeur getting one. Then the Kora Awards had to be held in Angola for 2014, but it didn’t happen because the Angolese gouvernement didn’t agrew with many things. In 2015 & 2016 he wanted to bring the event to Nanibia, but it didn’t also happen.
