« on: May 19, 2021, 11:42 »
Today but I will not post it, the title is Nzete (Tree) in Lingala and just by the title I know it will be some naughty song.olaying.on the double.meaning of Nzete the Tree being hard and brown with the penis being hard and brown so no I will not post it, if you guys want you can. I just don't hope he is the only one singing because man no, no ROBINIO at least in the Générique let others shine cause the voice is not a gift of yours.

This is a loving proof that you never have to use Choko for whatever reason, it is so sad to see how a beautiful and talented singer like him looks right now

Man this is talent

6:29

Here he animates alone but the part at 6:29 is golden plus Kingo Ya So is a really fun movement to dance ngl

This guy really know how to animate but in Brazza Atalaku conversation between the Atalakus who came after KilaMbongo, Arafat, Typhoïde and to some Extent ETAs Unis he is not talked about like Zaparo, YouYou Mobange De Brazza etc. Why is he so underrated? To me is the second best after YouYou Mobange but he doesn't get any credit if you listen to 90% of his animation are almost always the best in the Générique

God, it is getting annoying, focus on promoting the album

Congolese Music / THE BRAND OF WERRA
« on: May 02, 2021, 12:03 »

This is gonna be a fun one

Werrason who was mistakenly thought to have been born in Christmas with guys like Marchiuse always counteracting that date was actually born in a date between the 10th and the 14th of December in 1965 in Moliembo a small village in Kikwit Region in the Kwilu district.
While he was the second voix in the Wenge Musica BCBG and always regarded as a great dancer, when he developed Wenge Musica Maison Mère (name that was born because JB managed to take the original BCBG name first) he made it clear to build a movement around young guys who came from poverty and/or had really complicated lifestyle before joining Wenge Musica, and that could gain success, money and lifestyle through going to the hardships of Maison Mère, entering into Wenge isn't an easy task and while new generation leaders like Ferré, Fally and Innoss'B and to some extent even JB made the movement around themselves Werra used the opposite formula using the movement as an industry where he is the leader who sometimes gives an help to the workers who are the singers, musicians of Wenge, despite having created great singers like Ferré, Deplick, Café Rhoum and a lot.of.singing leaders like Robinio, Fabregas, Heritier etc. The movement of Wnege got.popular and got his identity from his music style which, until the arrival of Lobeso 2008 (and with a partial comeback of Wenge style from Brigade, Bercy and now Jamaïque) was heavy pace Ndombolo Music guitar which consisted in playing the far end of the guitar trying to take to life all the traditional type of Congolese music (especially BaKongo, Bayakas and MuSwahili) and with an upfast tempo given by the drums who other than giving that iconic 6 beat tempo in 4 quarters consisted in making constant passages which is the term to define the changement of the drums by interrupting the flow.of.rhytm which has them influenced all Congo and all Africa. Other then the music Wenge until 2008 was known for the outstanding live performances who combined a great skill of.live playing by instrumentalists especially Guitarists and the Drummer who a lot of.time.played a combined rhythm with the dance moves of whoever dancer who came into place and live with singers who could impro the dogs after signing the initial lyrics or building up improved lyrics from the consistent changing of the lyrics throughout the concert, Wenge Maison Mère also has brought a style of combining multiple Sebens in one song by starting a song with Rhumba and them transition to the song Sebene to then after the Sebene ends mix it.witj other Sebene going as far to bring 5,10 or even 15 years ago songs, another innovative thing that really not many artists except for Fabregas and Heritier Werra brought was the live repetition, where basically once a week or twice televisions or camera would record the live sessions of the song creating with reharsals being open to public when in most cases with Congolese artists they aren't
So in conclusion Werra brought show onto the Congolese scene, not only the show but an exponential attention to the detail to make the viewers and the concert attendees to see an experience and not only listening to a song, giving everyone who was in Wenge between the Starting singers, Atalaku, Guitarists, Bassists and to some extent even Mbonda players the spotlight, Werra was able to create a style.of.showmanship and music that even today is hardly matched given the fact that Rhumba is starting to become more prevalent.

Here are some examples of the live shows that to my opinion are some of the best of Wenge

It starts from 1:59

Damn from 1:56 Cappuccino went wild

Congolese Music / THE BRAND OF FERRÉ
« on: May 01, 2021, 12:32 »
Ferré was born on the 3rd of March 1976
And is really well known in the Congolese scene to be regarded as one of the best singer from the Post Wenge Musica BCBG 4X4 Split shining as a singer in Werra's side of Wenge Musica: Maison Mère.
Despite him being one of the best singers in Congo and in Africa his move, after spending years with Wenge of going to Koffi to try to gain some money (he was broke after he left Les Marquis) and his pivotal role to create Les Marquis Maison Mère after leaving Wenge is what still to these days give Maison Mère fans (in their opinion) all the reason to mock and desrespect Ferré, with Ferré most of the time being desrespected not by QL Fans but by ex Members or fanatique of Wenge Maison Mère, while Fally is almost universally regarded as a genius, a great marketer the proper musical son of Koffi etc. Etc. Ferré is regarded as desrespectful towards Werra, a weed smoker, and a guy who struggle to reach the international fame of his rival Fally unlike Bill who is probably the ex member who insulted Werra the most without.any major consequences Ferré and one.of.his best friend Celeo usually get the short end of the stick because of their insults or banter against Werra. With that said Ferré brought the vocal range and ability for a Rhumba artist to really expand his voice plus unlike Fally, Werra and many others Ferré is the only artist if not one of the only who can manage to pull an incredible successful string of albums by putting the majority of songs in a Rhumba way with zero sebens and one or two générique
A star in Africa , Ferré for some reason struggle to reach the international height that his voice would require,he have very low number of features and it is not really well known outside of Africa like Fally is,this is due to the incompetence of his marketing bureau who have always been a mess since his solo career started but also due to the reserved and laid back nature of Ferré who feels like he doesn't have anything to proof to the world and almost seems like he do music just for the passion and the craft of it and really don't care about making an impact on the Market sides, despite this fact Ferré have sold a lot of records in Europe and have s really loyal fan base who love him for his personality and his own personal style of Rhumba

The Générique is astonishing tho as I have said before Ndombolo real Ndombolo is here we need to pay attention more to artists who are not Werra, Koffi etc. And expand our horizon with this I don't mean that Mbilia Bel is not a legend but usually Mbilia Bel is not the hot name you think about when you think about great génériques

Congolese Music / THE BRAND OF FALLY
« on: April 30, 2021, 16:44 »

I wanted to make this column/index book about what the various Congolese artists have brought into our music and I wanted to title what have they brought but I think the Brand of is a way better title with that said I will cover artists that I have followed closely or that I have known about in my lifetime so unfortunately no Franco, Tabu Let etc. but they are legends anyway, so I will start with
Fally
Ferré
Werra
Koffi
JB Mpiana
Wazekwa
Fabregas
Deplick
Héritier etc.
I will try to limit myself with successful leaders and if the index book get success I will focus even on the one with less success.

Good, now let's move on to the first story of this topic
Fally a nickname of Faustin Ipupa N'simba was born in December 14th 1977 and more then focusing on his life and the many rumours surrounding him (the most famous one being the one about him killing both his parents for fame) I want to focus on his brand and what he have brought into Congolese music in a Ndombolo scene dominated by the recent Success of A La Queue Leu Leu and the buzz surrounding the release of Témoignage to see if Werra could counter back Bill, Ferré, JDT and the many other artists who have left Wenge to form Les Marquis De Maison Mère by replacing them with artists who could have matched that level of stardom and by Koffi whom after releasing Effrakata, Affaire d'État and Monde Arabe couldn't expect that Fally his own pire petit could do something like preparing his solo album under his eyes. In this time dominated by Ndombolo and fast paced songs Fally came and shocked everybody by not only leaving Quartier Latin but also announcing his new and first album Droit Chemin with many collaborations from ex Quartier Latin members like Champion Djikapela, Apocalypse, and Modogo Abarambwa.
It was a risk and going solo not to form a group like Les Marquis did but going solo like Fally did was unheard of at the time and complice the fact that Koffi took Ferré to try to counter Werra and to have the best singers of Congo at the time in his group Fally decided to leave and release this album.

The success was weirdly immediate everybody were dancing songs like Prince Dr Southfork, Associé and especially Liputa which is now considered a classic among Rhumba lovers, for the first time since the Ndombolo fast paced era an album was more successful for the Rhumbas more then the Générique, but for Fally I think his brand was not that but the fact that he brought professionalism into the Congolese industry, it wasn't the classical Congolese artist who had a friend as an administrative and a weak marketing behind the disc no, Fally calculated every move and I think his brand was the one to be professional and never leave anything to the case he signed to Monsoh which at the time was one of the best producer in Africa and managed to make a successful album not only for Congo or Africa but even in Europe diasporaand many albums later now even managed to work with very famous french artists like Maître Gina, Aya Nakamura, Naza & KeBlack showing every artist in Congo that being professional is the way to go.
This was the first episode of The Brand Of tell me what you guys think in the comments about this series.
