lol, wanted Adolphe challenge or humilate King Kester Emeneya, by the way he let his musicians wear those jackets, because Emeneya had the same jacket during his show at Zenith and even posed with it on the Olympia-poster. If it was Koffi or Papa Wemba, then it would create alot of buzz and polemic. Just the way Wemba was invited to walk for Masamoto during a catwalk in Paris, while Masamoto was seen as Emeneya's trademark. Wemba then started to ignore Emeneya and indirectly mock him about that and Emeneya being jealous and furious about that, trying to save his safe by keeping saying that a star couldn't walk on a catwalk and that the population march, while the King sits on the tribune lol.

producers back then sometimes in order not to pay the whole night they'd negotiate with the hall and another artist or group to perform, example tabou combo of west indies on koffi's first zenith

Ahn, I see. The way Zacle was saying it was like to humilate Adolphe. I tought that he wanted indirectly say, that he made mpiaka. That's the bad side of Zacle, because in he same interview he said that Tabu Ley's Olympia hadn't any impact in Kinshasa. But he doesn't know that he on Tabu's arrival there was a big crowd and he performed at Stade de 20 Mai, being received by Mobutu and made a big national tour, with all youngsters of that time dreaming to become like Tabu Ley.

Yes, its true Constant Lomata and Kokar Masakuba used the same tactic when Koffi did his first Olympia, hence why they didnt write his name on the wall of Olympia with red lights , just when the concert was about to start they put a big poster "Sonodisc presente Koffi Olomide & Quartier Latin". Then when other music-promoter saw that it was that easy (back in the days it was to expenive to let someone perform at Olympia & Zenith on a normal way, only majors were able to do that), they were following the same tactic with then JB Mpiana, Werrason, Papa Wemba all performing there. But despite that the French-press still consider Koffi Olomide to be one of the first African to have performed at Olympia and Zenith, they wrote multiple articles about him and even put the album-cover of his Olympia. Sometimes they respect him even more than Tabu Ley.

I wonder if Kester's staff rented the whole hall when Emeneya performed there or if the direction of Olympia lowered the price to rent the hall. Because King Kester Emeneya was the first to perform at Olympia with those red lights on the front, followed by Fally. Kester used then to mock and attack Koffi years long about that.

I still want to hear the truth of Bercy, about the way they were renting it and apprenently just performed in the half configuartion of it. Maybe that, that inspired Werrason to do double Zenith, since that the half of Bercy was back in 2000, just 8500 seats, while a double Zenith has more than 12000 spectators. I also wonder if Youssou Ndour and Alpha Blondy were performing in the same configuration or bigger, since that they had a bigger status in France and Europe then Congolese artists, because of the world-music they were making.

Congolese Music / One of the disadvantages of the VHS - era
« on: January 19, 2020, 16:55 »

You could spent sometimes alot of money to buy a VHS, with bad image and being filmed only from one corner.

I guess that this was after touring in the USA and Canada. Reddy Amisi and Djuna Djanana were invited as guests.

In this video, Zacharie Bababaswe claimes that Adolphe Dominguez performed Olympia on the name of Meiway. I found the situation around Trinita's Olympia always weird. The VHS and DVD got never released on the market and nobody knows the truth about the concert, if it was a succes or not, because the press in that era was very silent about that event compared to his LSC-show 6 months earlier. I remember Archos explaining me in the past that the concert-organistors got threatened by zulu's to not release the video of the concert on the martket.

from 35:35 min

He promised that he would release one day "Les Archives de Zacharie Bababswe", which has footage of rare behind the scenes videos at the big events of Bercy, Zenith and Olympia. But until this day, it got never released. The same about the truth of the split of Wenge in 1997 from 25:15 min, saying that he will say it after 10 years (the interview was made in 2006, but we are now in 2020). He's the thrid or fourth guy who say that it, that it wasn't about money or solo albums, but none of them wants to reveal the truth about it.

Album credits seems not full.
Some names are missing there (montana, zoe bella, shella, tshetshe de balle...)

Thanks for posting it. I wanted to post, but I couldn't find the cd anymore at my home.

Maybe Koffi forgot to put their names or maybe he was angry the way they left. Zoe Bella for example insulted him after the tour and started ignoring him in interviews after the tour (I guess that he was traumatized the way his ex'boss started humilating him months long in interview for becoming a minor "Aah Nkovia akomisi Zoe mineur" hahaha), or it can be that Koffi wasn't happy the way Zoe Bella participated on Emeneya's olympia. The same for Montana, maybe Koffi wasn't happy that he reunited immediatly with Defao in Tanzania, which created some buzz. Koffi sometimes acts strange when people leave his band, he can erase your name from the credits (Force de Frappe for example), delete a whole song (Skola Miel in Magie) or not recording videoclips (during Droit de Veto). I know that Shella Mputu left on the same day with MJ 30, after not having received any vocal while having received money from people in Europe to sing their name. Koffi's relation with Tshe Tshe de Balle had always been strange in my opinion like the way his relation with Assow Ngole is.

The booklet of Mouna (Wenge Tonya Tonya)

I'm starting slowly to understand why the reception of Mouna was so/so and not the same like Affaire Tonya Tonya. Beside the many departures, I think that the main reason is that the album was recorded with bad blood and bad intentions. You can feel that Trinita was starting to unsettle some members. How could Shella Mputu having 3 songs on this album, while Didier Lacoste was the president and second start of the band. Its weird to see that Licha Shombo and Shella Mputu not even singing lead on their songs R.T. Communication, l'Homme Unique and Do. Also how could Didier Lacoste being credited also co-writer of the song Mouna, but just having one vocal, not even singing it in a duet with Shella Mputu? Important members like Papillion, Fiston, Chibida, Gianfranco ('aka J3 Galliano) and Spino La Djatence didn't even had a song on this album. Also who's Toutou was he a songwriter who was brought to Europe as a ngulu as a gift to the contributions he brought to the band or was he a staffmember ? Because I remember Trinita wanting to bring Pascal Poba to Europe as ngulu, for the way he helped with writing songs for the Affaire Tonya Tonya-album and songs from the Maison Mere-era, but Pascal refused.  Didier Anaconda said in an interview that Trinita promised him that he would put 2 songs on Mouna, after not having one song on Affaire Tonya Tonya and just one vocal. But when they started recording the album, Trinita wasn't even programming his songs and they started then fighting in the studio with Didier Anaconda then leaving the band.

Was Shella Mputu close to Trinita before being recruited as his musician ?Because I remember Eldorado and some other musicians rehearsing the song Do along at Trinita's house when Trinita used still to be a Maison Mere-member.

Congolese Music / Guy Moller doing his part of the story
« on: January 19, 2020, 15:43 »

Explaing how he joined Victoria Eleison, how Emeneya got the contract of the US-tour for the whole band, but not wanting them to tour fearing that they would ran away, how Emeneya abandon him, Zoe Bella & Mbuta Bass in USA, being homeless and sleeping one day on the streets, how he rejoined Victoria Eleison in Kenya after (Emeneya then not wanting him to call his friends there, before arriving there) and his departure.

Ado Yuhe had to interview this guy after interviewing Sampaio. Nadege Ibwakungu left Congomokili to early, it will be good if she joines Elengi ya Congo or CleBoa. This video has until now only 58 views !!!!!

Koffi decided to release Bendele instead of Bla Bla Bla, because it got leaked on the internet, 6 months before it release. With most people having it on their phones and computers. Also alot rumba's on B.E.K. were 11 and 13 minutes long, songs like Sixieme Chantier, BB Gout & Plat Favori, so there wasn't much space to put Bla Bla Bla on CD1, since that a has only 80 minutes. Which made Koffi decided to release it only on DVD. After the Europe Tour Koffi already planned to unsettle Gessac, Joss Diena, Hono Kapanga and Gabbana slowly and wasn't really motivated anymore to put a generic on his album. So he planned to not release a generic on his album, but changed on the last minute his mind to please his fans of the young generation and those living in Western Africa, so he put Bendele as last song. I remember journalist Paulin Mukendi attacking Koffi for that in an interview made after the release of B.E.K. and Koffi keeping repeating that Bill Clinton is the best atalaku in Congo, just a way to humilate Gessac.

4902
So because of B.E.K. not having a good generic means that Monde Arabe was Koffi's last good album ? That doesn't make sense, because B.E.K. has 17 songs with Bendele being one of them, while Monde Arabe has 18 songs with some songs like Sexy Pop, Essili and Mopao en Or not being on the top, while on B.E.K. all songs were top notch, except Bendele.
