Congolese Music / Re: Ferre Gola - Kipelekese (Clip)
« on: July 01, 2017, 18:37 »
Lol...listen carefully to this version of Kipelekese and the cd one are different...the digital/cd version has drum beats and this doesn't...still a great song, one of my favourite from the album

You could call this the acoustic version. Very nice with the West African acoustic style; with a Kora playing

Innoss' maturity is so impressive. He just graduated secondary school, but has the work ethic and professionalism of an artist with a decade of experience

4263
Haha, these guys can completely steal ideas from Congolese artists and no one will complain, or many cases, not even notice

I remember Ericson Le Zulu had a hit song, which was a near start to finish copy of Skol Longitima. They all grew up listening to Koffi or Wenge.

Bebe Philip must make a killing playing solo on nearly every song

Juvenal acting like a apostle (1 of the 12 :D) just descended upon Burundi with his passion for Koffi.

Koffi is still pulling big crowds and media attention when he arrives at airports. Must get tiring for him

4265
Hopefully he brings back 2000 QL’s  “systeme ya kung fu” with a hard hitting générique like Force de Frappe

I wonder if Fally and Wazekwa have ever trained together

4266
Is it just me or the negga is getting darker. He is not light skin as he used to be.

Haha, that’s his natural skin color. He used bleach like crazy in the late 90’s-early 2000’s, not as much as Ya Jackie JDT though  ;D

Congolese Music / Re: NYATAQUANCE IS OUT

it has some nice songs on it. listening to it now. there is definitely better out right now tho.

Agreed, you guys got to give the album a little time and not immediately compare it to Loi, V12, etc. Charisme is a ode to the past, Alidor, Papa Photo, and Pavilion 8 have deep meaning as they’re personal experience songs penned by Koffi

On a slightly related note, Jay-z was getting criticisms of his new album, 4:44 like 1 hour after it came out. Similar case there, people want immediate impact rather than letting it grow on them

Alidor, Charisme (nostalgic), and Pavillion 8 are nice tunes

On tour in East Africa with Ferre

Guess I wasn’t paying attention. I view him as the journalist that’s easiest for an artist to buy.

I wonder who he’ll be rolling with next month

Congolese Music / Re: ELVIS A NEW HÉRITIER????
« on: June 30, 2017, 00:55 »
I’m really liking how he’s keeping him low profile, like he does with his own children. From the interviews I’ve seen Elvis is also articulate.

He will be with Werra long term, but we won’t see him playing for drunk fans at la Zamba early Friday mornings for a few years

Babin Massombo, the brainchild of the combatants continues to pay money for mabanga to the very artists that his crew is blocking their concerts

Congolese musicians often namecheck people without being paid or even the person approval....this could be the case, in return to get favouritism when it comes to those europe concerts ban..all premeditated i think

He’s secretly a fanatic, and that’s the problem. It’s not worth putting together, but the list of songs where he has mabanga is very long. And it does take some effort for your name to actually make it on the list of names Ferre or other artists are reading, unless you’re some big shot like Cardozo Mwamba or Kinuani.

Babin was close to Werra specifically years ago, until they fell out over ngulu as archos mentioned in the other thread

What's with the military fatigue? Is it the in thing in DRC right now?

It's the 20th anniversary of Mobutu being ousted from power by LD Kabila and his army of chégues

Congolese Music / Re: ITS OUT!!!!!!!
« on: June 29, 2017, 00:28 »
@Archos, can't they get someone who writes legibly to write the names for them to avoid this issue of misspelled names?

Actually, the process is still old school. A few members of the staff have the duty of gathering names on a peice of paper of those who actually pay up. Mostly the fanatics or young guys who want to become celebrities among their communities. Keep in mind, there are hundreds of names being called, and since this is the last process of the album, they're not going to put too much effort.

The long standing donors or polticians will have their names stated in every album regardless, so their names are saved and pronounced right since they matter most. Either they have a payment argeement or the young artists say their name to get their attention or appear important.

You can see the process in action here at (39:58). lol, Poison Gorbachev "Le commandant suprême du KGB" coercing Wemba for muitlple mabangas. Samsonite before Samsonite

What David Monsoh won't like to talk about nowadays is that he used to a mabanga errand boy for Koffi in the late 90's-00's. To his credit, he's an extraordinare when it comes to gathering funds, especially from known donors and athletes.

Good plan, it's been long overdue. Why does Seguin hate living in Europe? Is it the cold weather?

mpiaka...who's going to give him money

:D He’d have to wait longer for his money from Papa Cherie. He has his car business, so surely he doesn’t want to leave it unattended

(6:19 he’s namechecked)

Match d’amour of Disc 2 in case anyone can’t access the YT topic video

And the artists should stop accepting mabanga requests from these guys, when the know they’re blocking any Europe concert attempts.

His uncle, Accodo Massombo was a very respected donor during the OK jazz days
