So sad that Academia didn’t last long
Eric Menthe, Tonton Lay, Mustapha and Tshe Tshe De Balle had the greatest potential but the problems of Academia really screwed them over. Eric Menthe went to BCBG waited 4 years to finally sing on an album and then left years later and where is he now. Tonton Lay went to QL and never got a chance to even sing in an album and left really quickly and his solo career really isn’t working out. Mustapha well mawa we all know what happened to him smh, Tshe Tshe De Balle was able play in Danger De Mort and finally got to see Europe in 2009 when he went to zenith but I think barely played. Only Musika sika and Pitchou Concorde and maybe a little bit Tshe Tshe De Balle really survived the Academia fall out. Eric Menthe did a good job replacing Bouro but would it have been better for him to join QL instead of bcbg since Koffi really likes tenorists

And i know he also play in bek & abracadabra. But he also « survived ».
Tshe Tshe Le Balle played in Attentat. He just played one song there (Victoire). Koffi even credited him. You can even see him in the Sur la Route Bercy-VHS
Yeah, you were right. I just watched the credits of Attentat "version radio" and "l'integral", Tshe-Tshe le Balle wasn't credited in the credits nor his real name Roger. I don't know why I kept thinking for years that his name was in the credits. So he basically lied in all interviews he made in Luanda and Kinshasa, about having drummed in the song Victoire. It could also be that Koffi erased his name, when getting informed that he joined Academia. Because through the interview of Paulin Mukendi, I learned that Sanction got released earlier in Kinshasa and that they went immediatly there for concerts. Before I always thought that they went there just twice, the time went they went back after the fara-fara's against Koffi at LSC and La Madeleine, bragging about having bought their own instruments and the time when they came to get the team based in Kinshasa for the tour of Viagra. About Tshe-Tshe le Balle, he already left early Academia and long time before the problems started. He already left before the recordings of 4 Coins Kandala who were drummed by Lokilo who came from Empire Bakuba, not long after it dancer Kaddy Show followed. He rejoined Quartier Latin, who were at that time promoting Effrakata in Kinshasa through public concerts sponsored by Vodacom. But he was barely, being the third drummer behind Cambodge and Titina and left to rejoin Quartier Latin a few years later again. What did became of keyboard player Eric Bamba, who also played in Magie ? He had to run away after recording Viagra. The way Franc Congolais was looking at Abillissi, was like she was in love. Such a shame that Mustapha lost his head and voice. He and Eric Menthe were the best singers. But it's strange that Sam and co didn't think about recruiting 2nd voice singers. They only recruited tenorists.
