We know Les Marquis was formed in 2004 and planned since 2000 but this list of musicians that were approached is actually quite insane, I’m sure there’s more musicians from other groups that were contacted to join

Singers
Ferre Gola
JDT Mulopwe
Serge Mabiala

Baby Ndombe
Fally Ipupa
Shella Mputu
Jordan Kusa
Joss Diena
Heritier Wata
Teka

Atalakus
Bill Clinton

Celeo Scram
Bebe Kerozene
Genta

Guitarists
Japonais
Mimiche Bass

Flamme Kapaya

There is no way they would’ve all co existed absolutely no way. They would’ve split after a few months especially with all the ego with each guys coming from their respective groups as chiefs they wouldn’t accept XYZ being their leader.

lol - fantasy roster list, but looking at those egos, a fist fight would've broken out at the first rehearsal with the band falling apart the same day if all they all were together ;D

Guy Moller was also approached. He even went to make interviews for them in Kinshasa and represented them at Maïsha Parc, talking in the name of Les Marquis

Did he join as a singer or as a atalaku?

I don’t know, because he was like spokesmen Zobozi promoting them  in Kinshasa on the television. I  guess that he saw that they weren’t serious when both Ferre Gola and Bill Clinton sendedtheir guys to recruit musicians in Kinshasa a few days before their arrival and then rehearsing separately

lol when you know that only with bill jdt ferre japonais they ve had bill punching japonais and breaking his nose over a woman issue and japonais countering with trying to break him a leg with a baseball bat imagine if for example jordan alone was added to them, they'd be at police every week with jordan's quick manhandling reflex instead of argueing for too long :D :D :D :D

How come Ferre's solo career didn't succeed after Marquis, but Bill Clinton did with his band? You would think Ferre would have no problem finding a producer and sponsors being one of the most popular members of Masion Mere.

I remembered being surprised seeing him join QL while JDT and Bill continued on as solo artist. However, JDT killed his career by staying in Europe too long. He needed to return to Kinshasa to confirm his success

Jus d'Ete Mulopwe just took he time to get papers, after his bad experience with Wenge El Paris (him getting stuck in Kinshasa for years until joining Wenge Maison Mere) and prepared his return to Kinshasa very well and slowly. While Bill and Ferre wanted to rush back to Kinshasa as quick as possible after releasing Miracles, to prove everybody a point. Bill just being lucky that it went well with him and Ferre not.

Bill was very popular at that time. Ferre also, but the popularity of Bill Clinton was on another dimension. Because of coming from diamond-region Kasai, he got easily support from diamonddealers who had their roots there. Another thing was that he signed a personal contract with Bracongo/Skol with Zacharie Bababaswe as his manager when being in Les Marquis (it created for some problems in the band, JDT and Ferre not being happy with it, knowing that it would lead to a split in the future). Because of his deal with Bracongo/Skol it was easy for Bill to survive in Kinshasa, because they would pay him every month a certain amount, give him a set of instruments and a villa as reward. Plus he knew the secret of pulling huge crowds like his former boss, altough not being on the same level.

From 2001, breweries Bralima/Primus and Bracongo/Skol started to sign bandleaders to promote their companies in return of financial support, knowing that it was almost impossible for Congolese artists to survive by only performing in Kinshasa (Europe-tours were saving them). Many upcoming artists and big names saw their careers being killed because of not having a contract with those breweries.

Ferre Gola he didn't succeed because he didn't had enough support from donors. Many weren't believing in him anymore, because of the way Bill Clinton abandoned him while they the original plan was to restart Les Marquis together in Kinshasa (both had a hidden agenda preparing 12 against each other from Paris) after leaving Jus d'Ete Mulopwe behind in Paris. Ferre already sold his house in order to finance the clips of Miracles they made in Europe. He tried to sign with Bralima/Primus, but they refused to accept him. Ferre started at a point to get money problems. He tried to team up with Baby Ndombe in Kinshasa, but Baby Ndombe refused to join him. Ferre didn't knew what to do. After that he decided to come back quickly to Europe to sell images of his first show ith his band and look for more support. At that same time he was thinking about returning back to Maison Mere, seeing how difficult it was to establish a solo-career in Kinshasa without support and then suddenly he got once again approached by Koffi who offered him $15.000 dollars to join Quartier Latin, which he accepted. In the song Qui Vivra Verra, he song a small part about it the way they manipulated Bill Clinton and how they got insulted by WMM.

the thing also which made ferre change his mind on the maison mere return is that he was informed by one of the manzaka ma nkoy guys then one of the donors that they were planning to humiliate him when he returns making him to kneel then having him to reclaim his spot from the bottom as if he arrived along with taddet and co but from mampata he was hearing that he'd return and reclaim chef d'orchestre role
mampata not directly being involved with la zamba life he thought like the rumours he heard were more likely since the same mampata could not solve the baby ndombe issue while baby was even more of his protege than ferre
i think if he was good with jb like wazekwa at that moment he'd get the primus deal since both primus and skol were always seeking the opinion of their main artist before signing somebody

Ferre did well to decline to return to maison mère, it could’ve killed his career. Clan Wenge love to humiliate important ex members by making them kneel in front of the boss, Alain Mpela didn’t return to bcbg for the same reasons he was alerted that they would’ve forced him to kneel in front of Jb.

Vasco Mabiala always tells the story Ferre was about to sign with Bralima/Primus, but when they came to negiotate they found Sylvie Mampata and late Monib Production on their way to negotiate with Bralima. The boss of Bralima then chasing away and Ferre really being dissapointed. Werrason who was in Europe touring, ending up by signing a 4 years contract with them in Europe.

I dont know if you remember that period of Bracongo accusing Werrason to have signed with Bralima in Europe, Werrason then refusing to return back to Kinshasa while the alerte generale-tour already being finished until summer knowing that his contract with Bracongo would be over. Bracongo being furious about that and suing both Werrason and Bralima but the case going nowhere.
