Missing from this list are instrumentalists, but just wow. Almost none of the great singers are still living and most have died from similar causes.

A few missing are Mayula Mayoni, Babia, Max Mongali, Djo Mpoyi & Aime Kiwakana.
Wendo, who lived the longest by far, stepped away from music for decades.

does singing have long-term effect on the respiratory system?
-
Some studies have found that as the heart of men age and becomes more susceptible to cardiovascular issues, the act of singing, which takes lots of energy, has adverse affects. Another big problem is diabetes.
The lifestyle of musicians in general seems to have negative health implications, especially when you take into account various factors (diet, traveling, hundreds of hours recording, countless concerts annually, & big families).

Nothing scary or strange,it is mainly our diet and HIV that is killing us Africans! Most of those musicians on the list above died as a result of diet related issues ie cardiovascular problems and diabetes and a few it may be HIV related. It's unfortunate antiretroviral drugs came after millions had died including some on this list.
-
How many from that list have been confirmed or suspected of dying from AIDS related maladies? Also, while you would think that many die relatively young (45-50s), life expectancy in most African countries is about 50yrs. Coming from France, UK, USA that seems very low being that the western world is 70-80.
-
And is that short life expectancy in Africa(or most African countries ) a good thing to write home about?

Also missing in the list Soki Vangu's brother Emile Vangu(I was told he had a mental breakdown while performing...and on the street lots of things were said about it) Monza 1er, Djo Poster, Shekedan, Yenga Yenga Junior, Petit Aziza"Zinaza" and Lofanga
