I was actually in attendance for this concert (admittedly towards the back); it was pure fire from start to finish. That team was just electrifying
Binda Bass' bass was boosted more than other Koffi concerts; the entire hall was literally shaking and vibrating during sebene.
At this point, we can see that the dances for Effrakata were still in development

It was meant to be a double Zenith-event if I remember it well, after failing to perform at the Parc-des-Princes Stadium in Paris. But they cancelled other day.
I believe that Koffi brought 10 female-dancers, to prove Wemba's Fioti-Fioti who performed at Zenith one year before a point.

Because during the Effrakata-concerts he was barely singing on stage, he wasn't called by Koffi Olomide to be present in the Effrakata-clips and in Affaire d'Etat he had only two or 3 vocals.

That version of Bilan they where singing during QL's 14th birthday is very different than that of the album. Listining to the lyrich it was surely a diss-track against Academia or Papa Wemba. ""Osali Nga Mabe" "Reconnaissance ne pas de ce monde", "sala bango babosana", "amema bango", etc.
Mamale used a part of Osali Nga Mabe in his first solo-album of 2005

You can feel that Koffi wanted to get rid of Champion Djikapela slowly and he's also not praised many times, which was normally the case in concerts with musicians shouting his name the whole time. "Champion" "Stoumi" "Esthetique Djikapela".
What made Mamale Tupac to be not present in this concert ??

Koffi's Zenith's of 2001, 03, 07 & 09 are not alot talked about because he did already performed there in 1998, so it was not special anymore. His real dream was to perform at the Parc-des-Princes stadium. To let people from Congo & Africa see that he was more suprerior then all artitst. It pissed Koffi reality off that Werrason performed at Bercy 7 months after him and not 2, 5, 10 or 20 years later. Like African artists did after Tabu Ley's Olympia of 1970.
Those Olympia, Zenith '98 & Bercy are alot talked because;
1. Koffi was after Tabu Ley in 1970, Abeti Masikini in 1973 & 75 the third Congolese artist and maybe also African to perform at Olympia (28 years later). Which was at time very difficult to perform at, because at that time they where only letting prestitious or promising artitsts perform
2. Koffi after Abeti Masikini in 1988, the second Congolese artist to perform at Zenith and he was the first African artist ever to perform at a Sold-Out Zenith, someting which Abeti failed to do.
3. Koffi Olomide was the first African artist to perform at Bercy (sold-out) and that was without advertisment on the French-music channels. Something which did the French press amaze.
Koffi's first Zenith of 1998 was alot talked about. but the concert was not released on VHS because Academia was created, when he just wanted to release the VHS and Koffi didn't want that the guys of Academia would profit from succes of the VHS. Becuase they already profited alot of the succes of Olympia-VHS.That's also why he didn't record videoclips from the Droit de Veto-Album (except Rond Point, Droit de Veto & Sens Inverse). Koffi released only some little extrats of the concerts on the Droit de Veto-VHS. That's why people nowadays or born in the 90's are talking more about Olympia & Zenith. The clips Rond Point, Droit de Veto & Sens Inverse he made where barely promoted on the Congolese tv. Just as strategie to let Academia not get profit of its succes. Something which affected Do Akongo alot. So made on his own a videoclip of his song Sens Inverse to promote on Congolese artist. Something which didn't please Koffi. So he was slowly setlle him of along with Popolipo (who recorded a solo album with his enemy Emeneya & Academia-members Bouro, Pathy Bass & Somono). Koffi regrets till this day what he did to Popolipo & Do Akongo, because they where import members of QLI & contributed alot in his carreer.

Koffi is no doubt a big name in African music and an ambassador of Congo (legal issues or not). I however, noticed that his lives shows are not quite as lively as other artists have shown us. For one Koffi has never been a great dancer so that has always taken away from the group's artistic innovations. IMO, Koffi and QL are best listened to on a studio produced album. Other than rumbas in concerts, Koffi's generiqus and sebenes sucked. And even though the atalakus provide ambiance, it's just never the same. He likes to perform at these big halls, people like to see him, but he and QL are really not live concert materials. Leave that to WMMM, Papa Wemba's and the Fioti fioti girls, Felix wazekwa anytime of the day, but not QL and Koffi. The only time crowds come alive is when Bouro or Fally do their solo dances. Just my observation

I think with dances especially, QL dancers or dancing routines are not particularly aggressive. Its meant to look lovely and graceful, sort of charming. I associate people like WMM for hard-hitting dancing and sebenes really.

Because the direction of the stadium refused him. Not knowing that he was big artist and underrating him. They tried everything to plan in summer 2002 (replaced by triple Olympia, which was cancelled) and finally summer 2004(having planned Monde Arabe for dec. 2003, just before the bankruptcy of Sono/Next Music), but they where still refusing it.

Lol yeah I learned that the hard way haha. I don't understand how a lot of these rare concerts get deleted on youtube due to copyright, when it's nearly impossible to even buy or watch these things anymore.

The image quality seems to be improved and stable as well. The older one was really wierd with the image moving in and out of place. I don't why but it seems to do that with old vhs tapes.

Yea, at most of Koffi's big Europe concerts you'll be able to spot his wife either behind the drummer or to the right side of the stage. Maybe she kept an eye on Koffi so he didn't flirt too much with crazed fans. ;D

He comes on as a kind of man that would not listen to anyone let alone a woman. Methinks she just sat there so that people would know Koffi's wife is around but that does not change anything...lol...smh!

His wife has more leverage than we tend to believe, she and their kids are quite wealthy in Paris and they've been together for well over 20 years despite.. everything.
