This is an expression frequently used in reference to Seguin drumming.  Any drum expert who can explain this to me. Feel free to add the technical bits.

slow pace of drumming (then again its more a matter of  motivation or whatever but at top of his game he is good but he happens to be at top of his game max 5 times in the same year
