Instilling fear in his forces and the population at large
On the eve of the 19th all social media will be blocked and the borders will be sealed in the country. My heart goes out to the millions suffering because of the incompetence of the leaders.
Kabila is so unpopular that he has to postpone the election rather than hold rigged elections since his popularity and approval rating is realistically 1% maximum.

Good thing he isn't the president either he seems a bit of a dictator and no non-sense. I saw a video where the army is already being put out on the streets of Lubumbashi. I pray and hope that everything will go smoothly and that God will be on the side of the people.

The last time I checked, Africa got independence from the colonial masters some decades ago...Why are African leaders treating their people like we are still in the slave trade era? The one in Gambia (Jammeh) says he won't leave office for the incoming one, Kabila is doing the same thing now. What joy do these leaders derive in blood letting and turmoil? Na wa o! It is not by force to rule. If people are tired of you, leave and let someone else come on. I feel for Katumbi. I sincerely hope he won't get killed over this matter for it is obvious Kabila is not going anywhere till further notice and he would be ready to take any opposition off his way.
Now those who can afford it will want to flee the country... What about the masses? Where will they run to? This is sad really!

kanyama is very intimidating and its even worse in person(i was forced to meet him at that moment were the combattants phenomemon news reached kinshasa so they were suspecting people coming from europe)
i hope all will go smoothly especially i wish people will stay at home,the only way on earth to fight dictatorship is with an army or the people helped by strong external support
all those politicians from kabila to the smallest opposition member could not care less about people all they want is the Holy grail of presidence,no more no less so i wish people will think twice before going out
there is still possibility to protest slightly after since authorities also prepared to whatever people do so it would be miles better to take them by surprise
back on the musical field funny and sad how all the big names are gone abroad,some in private like fabregas who went straight away to europe from angola some with their group (which is just the 25 30 max who make it to lists),hopefully the rest remain unscathed should something bad happen

Archos, are you saying that if Kabila were to leave the the opposition would not have the interest of the people? The artist are just being smart and had a humanly instinct why stay in DRC when there is a chance something bad can happen to you not everyone is a fighter and that's okay. But they will have a tough time coming back since the borders will stay closed and we don't know for how long. And are you saying Fabregas took some members of Light Music to Europe cause I seen some of them including Merviel getting interviews today in Kin.

Toolz, I was thinking the same thing if people don't want them why do they still want to stay in Power. And Moise should leave while he can because Kabila and his forces might come after him. There was already speculation that Kabila poisoned him a while back.

All I am after is for the people of DRC to live and be in peace. Some areas/provinces have not enjoyed peace since the days of Laurent Kabila till now. I am worried about the masses really. The people should be allowed to exercise their human rights by choosing whoever they want to be their president through credible elections not by means of force or violence o.

trust me maybe 1 per cent or 5 if i am nice care about people the rest is about power and money so there is a lot of secret deals which happen between them and government for millions or sometimes billions and those who seem like pushing seriously against kabila are not popular at all
for me the person who can change cong properly must pop out of nowhere because all those katumbi,kamerhe,fayulu and co guys fill me with conviction that at best they'd do a decent 6 months then go hardcore
imagine a "simple" prime minister has his brother arrested at french airport because he had something like 5 millions of dollars cash on him,since his elder brother became a billionaire in his 5 years or so in that role,whereas he started being popular and looking like "yeah for once somebody who studied at big schools abroad"
so i do not see any of those guys doing different

Archos, Bro it is the same here too. Since we got independence, it is still the same set of people that are ruling. From generation to generation lineage to lineage. Like you said, those who will effect the change we want are people who will come out of nowhere. Help us in Africa, dear Lord and deliver is from all these sit-tight rulers who have turned governance into a family inheritance thing.

the series of musicians leaving drc continues, wazekwa already foresaw possibility of trouble and planned to return only next year and tried to get visas for his group but they got rejected as it was self production they did not have trust,jb is in malawi and will surely head to south africa without returning to kin,werra just went to angola,ferre is in kenya,fally in europe or about to continue african tour,koffi is in brazza apparently on his own or with just cindy,deplick has arrived in europe,heritier is in europe,fabregas is in his europe while his group returned to kin,bill is gone to dubai,and i heard this morning that brigade is in europe tomorrow and robinio possibly aswell before christmas
so thats majority of our popular artists gone

there are also loads of people of kinshasa who ran to other cities and some who are at borders of other countries went to other side,so far from the info i get from kin its calm, i hope it will continue like that
so far the only trouble i have heard about is some students from national university who came with cans of petrol to cause havoc at university

Looks like the forces were successful in suppressing any form of opposition in the major cities. There were big protests by the diaspora, but in reality it has no tangible effect - the natives of those countries couldn't care less about what's going on in DRC
Silly question - Was Wazekwa asked if the Kabila administration could use Fimbu for the "progress" ad that's playing on all the channels? It's something that's not sitting well with opposition

Jammeh in Gambia was going to accept defeat and hand over but the moment the careless talk came out from the new president, he'll went loose. How does one say, I the new one will take Gambia back to the Hague and handover my predecessor there for justice. Just why?

It shows the kind of brain the president elect has...He needs to ask for proper sense to use in governing the people if he eventually gets there. Even if you have/had plans to do that, you are not supposed to say it out. You allow them do the necessary presidential/government handover and all the stuff then make good your plans. The president elect did himself in with his careless talks but I just don't like this idea of sit-tight leaders.
