Manzugidi animated on the Pas-de-Faux album and a had a little animation verse-part in Magie.

Many people and the press accussed Koffi and Beevans in the mid-90's of copying Wenge and their atalaku Robert Ekokota (1989-1998). It caused alot of polemic in that era. Beevans animated in Magie and V12, he was also supposed to be on the Noblesse-Oblige album. But the animation was then done by Willy Bula.
In 1996 Wenge Musica release the Pentagone-album, which a huge succes and also a revolution the atalaku-section with Tutu Calugi. Who was animating different then the other atalaku's from that era (Djuna Mumbafu, Ekokota, Ditutala, Nono, etc.). His way of animating was like he was singing and he set a trend at a moment with in 2 years all big bands of Kinshasa recruiting atalaku's who where originally like him singer and animating like him. The Feux de l' Amour album with the ndombolo-animation was confirmation of succes and influence with the press saying that he had found " ecole des calugiste", due to the trend he setted in all bands who had atalaku's who where animating like him.

Here's from 1:44 min journaliste Zacharie Bababaswe asking him about that " ecole des calugiste" with him saying that atalaku's could take lessons at his home even atalaku's from bands who where touring in Europe.
Koffi was one of many the artists who followed that trend by recruiting Mboshi Lipassa, who was before that in the same band of Calugi and Theo Mbala, called Promise Musica. They where replicating the Ekokota & Calugi-duo with Dolce Somono. But Somono Parbolique was more productive compared to Ekokota, who had almost no crie. Espcially after the release of Feux de l' Amour. After the Olympia & Zenith tour he recruited CNN and they where replicating the Calugi/Bidjana-duo. But later on Koffi used CNN to reduce Mboshi after hearing that he wanted to join Academia, which he finallu did

Defao recruited Theo Mbala, who animated in the albums Amour Interdite, Sala Noki, Copinage & Tremblement de Terre and replaced him by Pecos (who came from Duc Herode), who animated in Guerre de 100 Ans and Bana Congo vol. 1 & vol. 2.

In Zaiko they recruited after the flop of Backline Lesson the atalaku Papy Cocaine who animated in the albums Nous Y Sommes, Poison, Feeling and Eureka.

Wenge Maison Mere recruited Bill Clinton & Celeo, who where in the begining calugists (despite that they never admit it in interviews). Bill Clinton was before joining Maison Mere, Calugi's pire petit and gave him some animations. Bill was before Force d' Intervation Rapide even animating like Calugi. Celeo gave himself Calugi's nickname of that time " Le Number One".

In Wenge BCBG whe had Champion Bidjana (he went later to Zaiko, you can hear him in Eureka and Feeling) and Gentamicine, who was then seen as Calugi's pure product and student.

The Calugi trend was quickly over when Wenge Maison Mere released the Solola-Bien album with every band wanting a atalaku animating like Bill Clinton and some even trying to replicate the Bill/Celeo-duo.

When Bill Clinton animated in Wolof in the Kibuisa Mpimpa album. Many atalaku's followed his footsteps by animating in West-African languages.

Quartier Latin was like many one of the bands who tried to replicate that duo with the young Kerozene and Brigade with Cambodge following Kakol's drumming style. and Kerozene doing a little part in Zulu in Effrakata and in Affaire d' Etat doing a part in a Malian language.

The Magie sebene was nice, He also repleced his own animators CNN for Mboshi,Brigade for CNN, Apocalypse for Brigade, Acide for Kerozene.

From the early 90's to 2003/4, when ndombolo lost out to Coupe Decalé, it was the nature of the game to be influenced by other groups, especially when dance or animation style was a big hit with the population.
Therefore, nobody really complained about artistic property of dances. Otherwise the likes of Station Japan, Kibinda Nkoy, Promise Musica would've been up in arms whenever a dance they developed was performed by a big group
