Itshari Lokole died after long illnes
Itshari was a Lokole-player (a traditional Congolese music instrument). He played for Viva La Musica since 1977, around 1985-86 he joined Maray Maray's Rumba Ray along with Richacha Balengola, Stino Mubi & Gloria Thukadio. Later he played a little time for Victoria Eleison before they settled in Europe. Then between 1990-1996 he accompanied Wemba and Reddy during their concerts in Kinshasa with other musicians like Manda Chante, Pinos, Alpats
hino, Theo Bidens, Maradona, Ramazani, Gauthier Mukoka etc. Then in 1996 he co-created with Papa Wemba, Reddy Amisi, Asta Paola, Pinos, Gauthier Mukoka and Colonel Jagger the band "Nouvelle Ecriture". In 1998 he toured with Nouvelle Ecriture in Europe along with Viva-veteran Pinos. Itshari wrote some since songs for Nouvelle Ecriture and Viva La Musica, songs like Veron Bompele from 'L, Lelo Na Decider from A La Une & Itshula Pete from Mwana Molokai.

Just heard the sad news. Lokole was such an integral part of Viva's unique sound from day 1. RIP
