Two years when Koffi released 13ème, I thought it was absolutely ridiculous to have 4 CDs/40+ songs (still haven't listened to it in-full), now Chris Brown (soon others) have followed suit. Of course they do not pay direct attention to us, but it's interesting how Western black music eventually follows African music to a degree.
Critic complaints are the eactly same we have; monotony with too many songs sounding the same
I still waiting for the day they start doing Mabanga songs ;D

A few rappers are also doing this also. I don't really like it. It gets really monotonous and some tracks just start not being as interesting.

On Congolese people is more positive mabanga without telling the name of the guy if it is negative "Taba Na Masese" (Bill @ Wazekwa) "Soki Leki abeti mukolo, mukolo atikala pongi te" (Wazekwa @ Koffi) or "Olobaka obelaka the obelaka te mbongo okendaka na hôpital pona nini? (Koffi @ Emeneya not sure about that)

I don't listen to him personally, but he has a big, loyal fanbase. Those chicks he has as fans stick by him not matter what scandal he gets in

The two rappers that did name dropping the same way DRC artists do it were Biggie (R&B) and Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest. The gave shout outs to all their peeps and families in the hood throughout their albums, which made those people celebrities

Still haven't listened to this album yet cause my Apple Music three month trial finished lol. American artists do shout outs in a way cause they say something like "shout to all my niggas in/from city A" or they might say " free my nigga" and they start naming names or if they are in a gang they will bang their set. Producers now put tags like Metro Boomin has Future saying If "Young Metro Don't Trust You". As an actual pay for shout out system in American music I really doubt that. will ever happen.

Haha kind of like how Congolese artists shoutout Didi Kinuani,Tabou Fatu etc and they have name recognition now.
