Title: THE MOST UNIQUE SOUNDING GÉNÉRIQUE?
Post by: Matebu on January 08, 2018, 19:51: Somo Trop gets me going everytime I give it a listen. One of the generiques than remains powerful from the first to last second. Dady Bola, Mongrantana, and Deo SFR (RIP) playing like they were possessed.

The later banned Nkila Mongroso dance was the dance of 2003 after Koyimbiko started to die out

Yea, this generique shocked even the biggest Wemba fans at the time. People thought after the 4 months he spent in French prison for the Ngulu affaire, he might go soft and apologetic to the French by switching to a world album to appease them.

Instead, he had a hard-hitting, seben loaded disc 1 of Somo Trop with the youngest band at time (Nouvelle Ecriture). And disc 2 was very religious and reflective, with the older Viva La Musica members participating

Kizengi dance.

Leave it to Jdog to criticize classics the rest of us enjoy. It's one of those matters of if you weren't there, then you don't get the signficance.

This track literally took over the airwaves in Zambia when it came it out. I mean radio, bars and night clubs it was all over.
