Whats the best and most powerful Maman Angebi performance according to you? And if any body has any backstories on said performances to add that’d be incredible.

Lots of legendary concerts held there - Gaby Lita Mbembo & Stukas, the various stages of Zaiko, Ok Jazz in the late 70's, the beginings of Victoria Eleison, Station Japan, LBG stars with young Titina Al Capone, Asha Dynamique with Gode Lofombo, the first national appearance of guy by the name of Koffi Olomide, and the official debut of Quartier Lartin in Kinshasa in 1993, to name a few.
Basically if you performed there you were a groupe comfirmé. Not to mention all the famous theatres that were filmed for national tv in the evenings of the weekend
It's unfortunate the venue doesn't have the prestige anymore; artists didn't like the lighting, it was too hot, limited space for a big band and outdoor concerts are easier.

It's rumoured he had to do the Mobutu praise song towards the end (43:00) so he and the group wouldn't get into big trouble.

That was before they became famous. That show was organised by journalist Zacharie Bababaswe. Zacle was in the 90's using VSS(Variete Samedi Soir) to promote upcoming bands of Kinshasa. SVP La Gamme (of Didier Lacoste, Shella Mputu, Shulay, etc.), Kibinda Nkoy, etc. were one of those many bands who performed there. So sad that the bands of the 90's lived in the time that they was a big crisis in Zaïre. They didn't had the chances the bands of 60's, 70's and 80's had (Wenge, Zaiko, Thu Zahina, etc.). Because the music-promoters who used to promote new bands and talents weren't there anymore with Congolese music being controled by forgeins music-labels (Sonodisc,etc.).There were only a few in Kinshasa. Wenge Maison Mere, Quartier Latin, Academia, Delta Force of Lofombo, and the many other splinter Wenge-bands made between 1997-2001, profited of their weakness. Imagine that those bands recruited the best singers, atalaku's and guitarists of those upcoming bands. The 5th generation would have already born in mid-90s if they had the same chance like the guys of the Clan Zaiko. They would surely end the Wenge-phenonmenon,like Zaiko did to OK Jazz did to African Jazz, like Zaiko did to OK Jazz and Afrisa, like Wenge did to Victoria Eleison.The guys of Extra Musica are 3,2 older than Ferre Gola. Wenge Musica had some serious problems with Kibinda Nkoy ,who was then dominating Kinshasa. But things changed when JB released Feux de L'Amour. The guys of Kibinda hadn't alot of experience and went to split in two. This all indirectly killed the music-congo. Because there was nothing to fight the Coupe-Decale virus, who appeard in 2003.Sonodisc and JPS dissapearing leaving the legends without music-label (Wemba, Koffi, Zaiko). Congo who didn't/don't have organised music-industy, with youngsters ending up in those major bands and learing from those school and coming out as dipolmies (Ferre & Fally from QL & WMMM) and making the same music, with some difference like Tabu Ley in 1963, who came from Grand Kalle's African Jazz. Instead of a new generation coming with a new music-style like Thu Zahina & Zaiko in the 60's and 70's, different than Clan Fiesta/OK Jazz.
