Thinking about it tshetshe de bal is the only drummer of this century in quartier latin who has played with them all
started as a backup to champion then cambodge arrived pushing him to third,goes to academia while titina arrives and champion goes to bcbg,returns later on and plays as titina's backup then has suira mundelu as his back up then leaves

Rocky Blanchard is like Eric Tutsi and bouro mpela who always leave and then come back lol he left with willy bula to join zaiko ends up coming back leaves again to join academia comes back again to Latino then leaves again to join sams group then returns again ;D ;D

He went to Zaiko on his own. Just before the release of Loi. Because he was angry that Motingia Tunga joined Quartier Latin. Which made them having 4 Bass players (Binda, Pathy, him and Montigia). Willy Bula joined Zaiko went they left him for that short Europe tour in the sumner of 1997, for the recordings of Loi.

He waited for QL in Kinshasa, but then Koffi left him again behind in Kinshasa. And then decided to join Academia. I guess that Koffi taught that he would stay in Europe, if he would bring him. Since that Pathy Bass stayed in 1999 and Silawuka Nguma in 2000, who were both reserve bass-players.

Wow didn't knew that Blaise Bamba (the keyboard-player) was a member of Academia. Blaise was a member of Quartier Latin during the days of Magie and Noblesse Oblige. He went then to Defao where he played on Sala Noki, Copinage, Tremblement de Terre, Bana Congo vol. 1 & 2 & Guerre de 100 Ans.

I always thought Willy Bula left in January 1997 when he learn he would not tour.

blanchard returned around longitima days he can be seen at ferre's presentation if i recall well,and recently was even quartier latin's chef after koffi demoted poupa mystique and i hear he has also lost it now to soloist volcan

No. Viagra was played by Pathy Bass and Silawuka Bass. It was recorded when Academia came with the new recruited musicians to Europe (end of 2000 until the spring of 2001). Blanchard joined after that Koffi left him behind for the of Zenith 2001. Blanchard only played on 4 Coins Kandala. I guess that he stayed during the last tour of Academia in europe Then rejoined Quartier Latin in 2003, when all musicians didn't believe that Sam would return to Kinshasa. Which made Academia collapse. With Tshe-Tshe le Balle, Tonton Lay, Mbetenge Domingo and Blanchard goining to Quartier Latin and the rest going to trying their luck in BCBG & Maison Mere (Eric Menthe, Musika-sika, etc.). I don't know what happend between 2003 and 2005 with him. He got the chance to play some bass on songs of Bord Ezanga Kombo, where they credited him. But he was still in the shadow of Binda Bass. He got finally the chance to get the number one spot, when Binda Bass decided to settle in France. He played then on Abacadabra (both generics Jeune Pato & On est Ensemble), Cindy's album, 13eme Aporte and Nyataquance. Listen the way the bass-guitar is played on all generics of those album.He is a monster.

One of my favorite baselines ever on a generique was the one Blanchard played on Etage Ya Suka, so effortless like he was playing an imporvised bass solo parallel to the guitar solo. It helped make that suspense you felt as you listened.

I still don't understand Koffi prefered Binda Bass above him after V12 and later also Pathy. Was there problem between both guys ? His work on Pas de Faux was epic.

But before he went to Zaiko he also prefering Pathy Bass above him. He had to be at Olympia, but his visa came to late. By the way Blanchard is far better than Binda listen to the difference of V12 and Ultimatum.

It was surely because binda bass was "prettier" & should have a grudge against blanchard when he went to zaiko.
Binda Bass and Koffi are relatives, so that naturally gave him preference. As for why Koffi had 3-4 bassists in front of Blanchard, my guess is something happened behind the scenes

Babia was the first musician of Ql to ran away. He left the band after performing in Switerland, because he felt in love with a woman who was living there. Then we was beated by people who were living there , because that girl had a relationship with another man. So he wanted to rejoin Quartier Latin, so some guys went to bring him. But then they were arrested including Babia, since that they found deja in the car.
The same thing happened in 1998, he felt then again in love and didn't come anymore in concerts. Then Koffi decided to kipnap him on the last day by those ganga of Paris at that time (Zoulou's), after discovered that the story about forming Academia was true. He used some girls on Modogo and Sam to them back hahahahahaha. But they had a smart tactic and went back to Europe after some concert in Zambia. Zimbabwe & Tanzania.
I think that he felt in love with Europe. He lives in Rotterdam(The Netherlandts) now and plays offer in a church and sometimes with his friends. They have a band called Rotta- music

Damn so Rocky Blanchard was right he was the first musician to ran away. Babia was such a "aventurier". No wonder why Koffi didn't select him for Bercy (I expected to see him in Bercy, thought.)
Oh yeah I remember's during Paulin Mukendi's show "Koffi selon Babia" he talked about the fact Koffi send some gangstas to kidnap him he started to shout at them "au voleur, au voleur !" Kiekiekiekie ah Chokoro vraiment.

What made Sam stay for so long in Europe, since 4 Coins Kandala until 2009. Did they forbad him to quit Europe, like Papa Wemba who stayed almost 2 years ?
I remember how happy Koffi was behind the scene, when Academia disbanded. With Modogo rejoining QL followed by Mboshi, who both promised to Sam to not betray Academia and never return back to Quartier Latin. Back in 2005-06, Koffi proposed Sam to rejoin Quartier Latin, but he refused. I remember him attacking Koffi , Mboshi & Modogo every hard in an interview in 2006, when he was recording Droit d'Asile, which became Sacrifice. I didn't believe it when I heard that he came to Ql'S 23th Anniversary, after all things what happened between the guys years long.
