It's a shame Christian "Mabanga" Mwepu never quite settled after the split of Wenge 4X4, his bass work on Pentagone and Feux de L' Amour were strokes of genius!

His playing style reminds me of Clovis Silawuka's fret work; heavy yet shimmering basslines with an emphasis on string plucking. I'm a bass man, I played in my high school orchestra...though it was upright bass.

It lies somewhere between ambition and ego, it's what usually breaks apart the best regardless of genre.

You remember the first time you heard Titanic? What was that like? I believe I was like 6 or so, I heard that sebene and Tutu Caludji and all was through my mind was like "What is THIS?!"

Can't believe the album turns twenty years this November...
