I remember back in day instantly thinking that this is 20x better than the Solola that made the CD.... no comparison, though it is cultural classic. The problem with the version  that made the final cut is that the solo is very muffled. Also, the sound was too polished.

Raw, live sebene is the best kind of sebene

I prefer the finished version with the arrangements of Maika Munan, Philiphe Guez and Djudju-chet Luvengoka. Kakol & Flamme made many mistakes with Serge Mabiala & Ajdani entering to early when they did their vocals. Jus d'Ete & Ferre Gola are missing. I also don't like the drum-sound.

Totally agree, he missed only that the final version of the album has the quality of the live version studio

Is it me or is Kakol drumming much, much slower than he usually does?

It's age. Don't forget that Kakol performed years long without a second drummer. While alot of famous drummers in DR Congo had 1 or 2 drummers who were backing them sometimes. Kakol himself didn't like to have reserve-drummers in the band. He was never giving them space even his little brother Wagadugu who's now drumming for Ferre.

What's the story behind Kakol? How did he get recruited into Masion Mere? Did he already have ties to Werrason (like Ferre) or did he have to be tested alongside other musicans like the rest?

Kakol came from Kibinda Nkoy. He had to do a test like all other musicians.
