Title: The Mystery of Les Mineurs
Post by: Wenge1995 on March 26, 2019, 06:36
If only Koffi maintained Les Mineurs, they could have had similar impact of Quartier Latin after the birth of Academia. Can someone explain the story behind the creation of this group and why Koffi changed his mind about promoting them through a group album? Check out the 10 minute 40 second mark, he could have done a lot with them...even without hiring Hono Kapanga and Gessac.

All I know is that everything went downhill after this concert. I hope the sex was nothing less than heavenly, because Mopao gave her the keys to his band and she wreck the damn thing kiekiekie!

Koffi Olomide already stopped promoting Les Mineur after Zenith 2007 when Rolly Mayemba & Zoe Bella decided to stay in Europe and didn't exist anymore after that tour with the guys who didn't decide to leave in Kinshasa, becoming officialy Quartier Latin-members. He started then to promote Cindy Le Coeur alot and a little bit Jos Diena (who was then the new chef d'orchestre) in concerts before the release of B.E.K. Koffi Olomide chose to promote only Cindy Le Coeur because he was still hurt about Fally's departure and even said in private that he would never ever promote a singer alot like he did with Fally Ipupa (already back in 2006). Then in 2008 or 2019 some months after the release of B.E.K. he said in a few interviews that he will stop promoting guys in the future because they disappointed him and he will then only promote girls and even formed a group of female singers called Les Mikwapins, but I don't know if they still exist. Cindy gave them a hard time lol. The last time that I heard about them was back in 2014.

Koffi Olomide said in 2006 in an interview when he started to present Les Mineurs, that he was inspired to form that team because of him seeing JB Mpiana having Les PPU as reserve-team of Wenge BCBG and Werrason having Operation Dragon as reserve-team of Wenge Maison Mere. He said that he wanted then to pick the best singers of Les Mineurs to put them in Quartier Latin or if an important singer decided to leave. Some months after that he announced that they would record a maxi-single called Sol Mineur and presented them officialy at Grand Hotel Kinshasa in the same concert he presented Gessac who then just joined Quartier Latin. But Koffi changed his mind on the last minute and decided to would record B.E.K. straight away.

I found it always funny the way King Kester Emeneya was humilating Zoe Bella in interviews. "Aah Nkovia okomisi Zoe Bella mineur" hahahahhaha. "Ba musiciens misusu bakoma ba mineur". Mineur means in French minor (under-age). Which made Koffi switch him to Quartier Latin, letting him performing with Asso, Shella Mputu, Suzuki Luzubu and Montana Kamenga.

After B.E.K., he wanted to record a band-album called Suprematie, but he slowly to get rid of Joss Diena, Gabbana, Hono Kapanga, J3 & Gessac and also the old guard Babia Ndonga & Suzuki Luzubu. But he saw that alot singers were not really ready and he wanted to let Cindy record a maxi-single of 6 songs to fight Meje 30 and didn't want to promote her immediatly. Having then also the obligation to record a single for his sponsor SKOL, he decided then to record a maxi-single (Chicotte a Papa), giving then only Youssouf Arabe and Mon Ami Guelord the change to put a song which made Joss Diena furious so he decided to leave. But the maxi-single flopped.

Seeing already that Quartier Latin wasn't ready, not really being motivated to the Mayi Ya Sika-team and only wanting to promote Cindy. He decided to announce his next solo album Ekafela (which became Abacadabra) before releasing Chicotte a Papa.

@mvulusi96

I heard that Rolly Mayemba and Zoe Bella left because the group was not going to recieve cars and money upon their return to Kinshasa like the previous Quartier Latin generation, is that true?

I feel like Koffi was not as proactive about team building compared to his similar situation after Attentat was recorded. Remember it wasn't solely about being talented because they all are, but you had to be disciplined. That is why Babia Ndonga, Tshé-Tshé De Balle, Sarbatino Batracien, and Chikito Mutakatif were all left behind.

It seemed like Koffi didn't even know how to promote a girl group from what you're saying, so he let Cindy influence him to sideline that project. I feel like Koffi never quite recovered from Fally and others leaving, it stripped his confidence.

He should have made Bouro Mpela chief of orchestra upon the departure of Fally rather than Sukuzi or Joss, he already had more esteem in him than the others including Montana and Roi-Soleil Wanga.

What do you think?

How can they receive cars if they only performed 3 concerts and spent just one month in Europe lol. Yes, Rolly Mayemba left because of the money, but on the other side he was already thinking about staying in Europe. The same for Bapinces Kapese, they were dreaming about Europe. Zoe Bella wasn't happy with the money he received, but he already planned to stay in Europe, because he wasn't liking the way he became a mineur lol with Emeneya mocking him and how QL-members were seeing him as pro-Victoria because of using to much the Langila-language. It was also the first time that he came in Europe, so he saw it as a chance to ran away. When he ran away he started to diss Koffi often, saying that he's isn't rich and not a real boss, etc. It wasn't Koffi's fault that they weren't paid, Koffi Olomide gave the rest of the money of Zenith to Suzuki who had then to pay the musicians, but he took a part of the money for himself and gave only a little part to the musicians which pissed Asso, Guelord, Joss, Gessac, Rolly, etc. off. He was then saying that he had the right to do that, because of Koffi not having paid his ticket to return to Kinshasa back in 2006. This made Koffi very furious.

Tshe-Tshe Balle, Sarbatino Batracien and Chikito Mutakatif weren't left behind because not being disciplined. It was only Babia & Rocky Blanchard. Tshe Tshe-Tshe le Balle was left behind, because Koffi needed only 1 drummer and tought that he would ran away in Europe. About Sarbatino and Chikito Mutakatif, there were to much singers in Quartier Latin, they weren't the only guys who were left behind. There were like 50 singers in Quartier Latin, guys like Soleil Wanga & Spino La Djatence didn't also make on the Bercy-list. Koffi Olomide decided then for the Bercy-concert to take 8 singers instead of 6.

Koffi knew how to promote them, they made various interviews with Pamela Mbitse being the one who was the most known of them all. But Cindy beceame jealous and Koffi didn't want to lose her. So he later stopped with that project.

Bouro Mpela as chef d'orchestre lol, if you hear stories from Jordan Kusa, Felly Tyson, Sam Tshintu and other former Quartier-Latin members then you wouldn't have said that. Bouro isn't really mature to have that role. Titina Al Capone became the chef d'orchestre after Fally Ipupa's depature and Montana Kamenga became the Vice-President of Quartier Latin until he left. Both guys did their job well. Bouro Mpela only spent 4 months in Quartier Latin when he returned back in 2006.

Suzuki motema mabe vraiment. Koffi should've given the money to Montana. I've always wanted to see that Zenith concert of 2007 was it ever released on DVD? From the extract on YouTube it's like Joss and Zoe were barely on stage. And out of the Mineurs I felt like Rolly Mayemba was the most promising especially to be the next Fally, he had the looks, dance, and voice but things happen.

Yes, it exists. Back in 2009, journalist Francis Kakonde went to a shop to let the people see that the dvd of Koffi's Zenith '07 exist. Because Sankara de Nkuta was claiming that the show was mpiaka and that there doesn't a exist a dvd.

@mvulusi96

Why did Apocalypse give Brigade Sarbati such a hard time when he returned to Quartier Latin? I know Brigade and Celeo had issues over a mutual girlfriend, but what started the fight between Apocalypse and Brigade.

They made such a good team on Skol Longitima! Danger de Mort would have benefited from just them and maybe Mboshi participating as atalakus.

https://youtu.be/ayfVhnYtQ9w

What also surprised me is how quickly Apocalypse disappeared after Droit Chemin, he didn't participate in any other albums for Koffi nor did he join Fally when he left dispite his great cries for his debuting album.

No worries broski, I'd strongly advise you to listen to them my man especially Mirage's albums top top stuff, you'll find both on digital platforms. I really thought Mirage would have a place in the top 5 of the 5gen but you know these guys and promotions and loving Europe way too much.

Apocalyps was the most wanted atalaku of 2007 until 2011. Participated to almost all the albums who were recorded in those years. He also participated to the featering of Fally with French-Malian rapper Mokobe which was a big hit in France. He became friends with Mokobe who was then one of the top rappers in France. Trought him he signed with Universal Music Group.

I don't know what the reason of the conflict between Apocalyps and Brigade. But I think that Koffi was behind it.

It wasn't Mirage's fault. He didn't want to take the risk to go promote his album in Kinshasa, because he hadn't his French papers, he just received his papers two years ago. Also a had a big conflict with Aime Buanga when he discovered that he wanted to exploit him, when he was recording his then next album "Veni, Vidi, Vici" with Olivier Tshimanga which made him put a stop on his career. But the bad side is that everybody was seeing him drinking those 8% and 10% alcohol-beer (6/8, Amsterdam, etc.) on the streets of Chateaux Rouge every day and everytime keeping asking money to people like other former musicians.

I liked Olivier Tshimanga's solo from 1:56 min
