Zabalumbu what an absolute underrated classic, it’s been on repeat for me for the last month. Sam really sung his heart out on this song. Too bad he let his ego ruin everything.

After listening to the original version I always put the remix straight after, which I think is better than the original especially with the vocals of Tonton Lay and Eric Menthe and the newly recruited musicians.

I wonder if it doesn't hurt Sam Tshintu when alot of Congolee people say that he hadn't done anything in his career after leaving Quartier Latin.

People like to have short memory. Considering what he and academia achieved in their first year says a hell of a lot, considering how hard it was back then. They had a good run from 99 till 02 let’s say. When people only talk about Fally being successful from ql alumni’s I do put academia on that list too from back then. They sold out LSC twice, had a big crowd in palais du peuple and Cinemax which Koffi was unable to do back then, they could’ve even played at Zenith or Olympia, but unfortunately the band got too unstable and ego’s dominated and then the Ngulu affaire destroyed everything.

Btw they played 3x times at LSC, the last one was a fara-fara against Wenge Maison Mere before the new year-eve which Academia won. It was then the second time that they won a fara-fara against Wenge Maison Mere. The first time was in Brazzaville, during that time Werrason was number one with Solola Bien, but he played in a empty hall while Academia played in a overcrowded Palais des Congres. But people forgot quickly about that.
Fally's first year wasn't really impressive despite the succes of Droit Chemin. He was lucky that he had almost the whole press behind (a big part was in conflict against Koffi Olomide). Aside the succes of Dock Eiffel, the short europe-tour of 2006 & Olympia, he had alot of mpiaka in those public skol-concerts, only those VIP-concerts were really succesful. Fally himself also admitted that back in 2015.
If a look back to those years, then I think the succes of Ferre's Sens Interdite made indirectly boost Fally's succes more. Because people started than comparing the two guys and the press wanting to create a new JB vs Werra, trying to get rid of JB & Werra.

i think they could/should have swallowed their pride and made a comeback lets say around 2007,being together its not just about leadership,they complimented each other soooooooo well they would have for almost certain done better than each on them on their side and they would have been less of a threat to the guys around so maybe they could have just done their thing almost peacefully

Ndeko, I disagree. Modogo had a bit of a career revival during his time with Quartier Latin from 2005 to 2007, his vocals on Sisi Silivi and Danger de Mort got him a lot attention that was lost when he left Academia.
However, the damage was already done. While Fally and Ferre managed decent funding and long-term promotion for their albums, Modogo had to self-fund his project since his producer was not as experienced as one would hope.
What happened to Lebou Kabuya after his brief stint in Quartier Latin? He did fantastic on Riziki and Mopao en Or. I still hear a bit about the other musicans, but he and Acide Wanzambi disappeared. I remember Koffi was promoting that atalaku during that time
