yeah, back in the Mobutu-era it was very normal to have 2 wives or more. All rich and famous people had at least 2 wives in that era.

Wemba was traditonally married to some of those girls, others were doing some dirty jobs beside dating him and giving him money from those jobs, eliminating rivals (Evoloko, Gina,.. ) or potential rivals and they were were sometimes also dating other big bandleaders (Tabu Ley with Omanga and Sharufa) on the same time .

In the 70s Wemba had Rose Luzolo 'aka Amazone', Shaguy Sharufa (former owner of nightclub La Reference), Youyou 'aka Mere Surprieure' and Omanga. Then in the 80s he had Julie Maningo "R.I.P." (who was from the same Batetela-tribe and sent from village to marry on a traditional way with wemba) and many others. In the 90s he had Dodo Mpela, Toutou and Amazone. Toutou was his official 3th wife.

the lyrics of the song dedicated to Dodo Mpela always kills me. Because the way he sung was like Dodo Mpela was his first girlfriend ever.

You got various Toutou’s Congo. Stervos Niarcos wrote a song for a Toutou living in Brazzaville and gave it to Bozi who sung it in Zaiko.

Gina wasn't the name of Julie Maningo and Marie Omanga (RIP). Gina is another girl. Petite Gina is actually Reddy's song, but Papa Wemba credited it to his name. Wemba dedicated the song Maningo to Julie Maningo in 1985 and in the 70s a song for Omanga when he was a Zaiko-member.
