Till today i just can’t believe he recorded this and even released this.... 4:40 was the biggest tease ever I honestly thought it would end with an explosive sebene. I remember after listening to this after it came out I said to my self “the guy is finished” and cindy made it worse, there’s no way this would’ve happened if Sam and co or even Fally and co were still around at the time. Skol must not have been happy with this song.

Saw “Koffi” and “crap”, which instant lead me to think about this Skol Mandaramanda kizengi.
This point was his career low; he has since recovered somewhat

Koffi wanted to copy the Zembe-guys from Brazzaville (the guys who created the Malewa-dance) who were making coupe-decale songs. They were then n1 in Kinshasa and Brazzaville and everybody was dancing to it. Koffi recruited one of them as his new atalaku and used to attack Werrason for having the atalaku who created the original cri of Sima Ekoli. But that strategy didn't work.

The Zemba-guys were a big treat in danceclubs to the old guard (Werrason, Koffi, JB, etc.). Werrason did the same thing by recording a coupe-decale generique in Europe. He leaked Techno Malewa version Automatique on internet to see the reaction of people, claiming then that they hacked him while he did it by himself. But most people criticized him very which made Werra record Techno Malewa version Mecanique very quickly in Kinshasa before releasing the Techno Malewa-EP. But on the end everybody ended up by dancing on both version Mecanique & Automatique.

I think that it would have been better if Koffi released 1 raw generique with Mbentenge and the atalaku's Ordinateur & Rossignol beside Chicotte a Papa and Skola Mandramanda. The rumba's of Guelor and Arab Youssouf weren't strong enough to save the EP.

Looking back to the EP, I think that Koffi wasn't really motivated in releasing an EP for Skol. He was to focused on preparing Abracadabra (which he was calling Ekafela at that time) and there wasn't also any pressure from the Primus-side (JB's generique was not a succes). Most people would quickly forget about the flop of the album when it was known that Koffi had problem with the justice in France.

Chicotte à papa was in fact a massive mpiaka. But being a massive Koffi fan I managed to catch onto the EP. I loved the songs Forgeron (I first heard the song when I was 11/12 years old!) and Beaudelaire (which is a very nice rumba). They were both so chill! The one song I hated was Boucle, it was such a waste and one of the worst filler tracks Mopao has made. Skol Mandramanda I actually liked to be honest but I don't think Suzuki's vocal fitted well with the song at all. I'd prefer Suzuki to remain in the 90s QL Generation!
Del Pirlo was like a "Chocolat" part 2. With a reggae ish kind of sound and then a rhythm change. Both Génériques La Chicotte à Papa part 1&2 was just Koffi making random noises like Fally all over the Control album. So I was just like. NOPE. This ain't it. Good think that he came back strong with Abracadabra and the demo version of Jeune Pato in 2011!

Kie kie kie
Mandramanda was not that bad, except for the second half where it goes full coupé décalé, a bad one at that.
I like what Suzuki and Gessac did on the song.

It was Ordinateur who did those cries in the beginning. Gessac was excluded to put cries in the EP like Joss Diena who didn't had vocals or a song in that EP (One of the reasons why he decided to leave the band). Gessac wanted to stay in the band but his rivals started to gossip to Koffi that he wanted to follow Jos Diena who created then is own band. But it wasn't true, but Koffi wasn't believe him and started to ignore Gessac during rehearsals which made him leave Quartier Latin not long after Chicotte a Papa, the same for Hono Kapanga.

The song Boucle made him lose alot of fans in Togo. It was a presidential campaign song for dictator Faure Gnassingbé. I don't understand why Koffi decided to put that song in the Chicotte a Papa-EP.

Either way, the flow was dead. The song was dead. Too repetitive. Too damn monotonous. And as much as I love Koffi, he needs to stop singing for Presidents. I was particularly disgusted at Selfie Sassou (As a fellow Brazzavillois). He did a whole half-hearted version of "Selfie" for Sassou-Ngueso but... I decided to let it slide.

You will be even happier knowing that Werra also sang for Sassou
