Start with code 12 please. I keep hearing that term on CV, and I know what it could mean, but I don't fully understand what it's about.

I want to know how musicians used to lives during the tours that were lasting 6, 7, 8, 9 months and how much money they receive when a donors wants to get a song on a group album or if all the money go to the leader himself (I had that impression on the musicians of Quartier Latin).

I've got another one about how albums were recorded, especially when bands went abroad. Unless albums were recorded live in the studio (the entire band does the song in one take), how were they recorded when guys like Phillipe Guez and Sec Bidens were in charge of arrangements and programmations? I also want more detail as to how these guys crafted the songs.

@Manzambi @Archos however you want to prioritise this is up to you.

Also the influence of tribe or ethnicity on who joins what group and the previlledges that acrue as a result of being a tribesmen with the leader of the group. I have heard that one leader started preffering only his tribesmen (swahili) musicians.

Mmmm who was it though? For example Pdpe Kalle was a Muswahili but I don't think that Djuna was I think Djuna was a baKongo. Werra is a bayaka a term for the baKongos who do not want to follow the BaKongo rules amd the Matriarchal lineage of society Koffi is mixed I think his father is from Sierra Leone? (That will explain his perfrct english) and his mother Congolese but I forgot from where maybe a mungala tribe. JB is 100% Muluba and goes crazy when you make cries about that. Till this day that crie of Bem Laden and Genta in Kiyunguzuna is played everywhere. "Eh Mwana Muluba e e Sulutani Mwana Mulub'e"

Fally is a Mungala, Fabregas is also part of the Mungala family, Deplick is a muluba if I am not wrong Brigade and Capuccino are MuSwahilis, Ferre is a BaKongo but since he grew in Kinshasa so he is the typical me me me attitude of Kinshasa, Felix Wazekwa I don't know but Archos will definitely know his tribe.

What I like about Congolese musicians except for some heated argument between the two Wenge's there isn't much tribalism in Congolese music is not rare to hear BaNgalas singing KiKongo songs or BaKongo singing Swahili songs Muluba songs etc. For example Nande is a song in Congolese's Swahili by Werra despite him being a Bayaka eee munangeeee mmm that song is sweet

https://youtu.be/0tfRsnldzZM

About Atalakus I hve already said that Brigade is a muswahili, Lobeso is a Mongo which they are like a more raw version of Bangalad they talk Mongo which is the original lingala since Lingala is mixed with a lot BaKongo words for example Falanga in original lingala which means money is nowadays Mbongo which is standard KiKongo Nzingu insead is heavy KiKongo the dialect of main KiKongo or for example Ndjakomba which means God in Mongo/Original Lingala which has been substituted by Nzambe which is a transliteratuon of the word Nzambi which means God in KiKongo

After that Eclipse is a Muluba, Genta is kinda mixed and has some BaKongo in him, Pajo looks like a typical Bangala very dark but has kind of a not very known name so I can't say with certainity, Cellulaire was a Mungala (his name was Vanga Motema) Fusee is a baluba Celeo a BaKongo and then I don't know there are too many but I don't which was the Swahili leader accepting only Swahili musicians might be Koffi? But Koffi doesn't look a muswahili to mee. The sad fact is that Lingala despite making Congolese music big shoved the door for KiKongo, Swahili and Balubs songs to br mainstream in Congo

I always thought that Werrason was a half mumbala/half muyaka, because of the way he was doing mumbala vocal impro’s in Wenge 4x4 and also the song Kalayi Boeing (which was in kimbala) giving the village Masi-Mandimba a shoutout.

To be honest Deplick doesn't seem like the typical muluba. If I didn't knew he was Muluba I would expect that he was a BaKongo or a mixed Mungala. Of what ethnicity is Koffi is he really from Sierra Leone? And what about his mother? Let me guess I think his mother is a Mongo because Koffi is particularly loving of the Mongo style. What about the Zebola style it is Congolese or Ivoirian?

Bakongo is plurial and mukongo is singular.

Why would Congolese people of the 20th copy a rhythm coming from another African country ?Apart American and Cuban music, 80% of the rhythms until the 2000s were inspired from our tribes (Budja, Mongo, Luba, Kongo, Mbala, etc.)
Like I said in other threads, Zebola is a rhythm coming from the Équateur province, where it was played when they were exorcing people. The rhythm was brought in Quartier Latin by Do Akongo.

Koffi’s mother (Maman Amy) is 50% a mutelela and 50% soera leone. Back in the colonial era you had alot of people coming from Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Ghana, etc. (They were calling them ba popo) to work in the administration, because Belgian people weren’t trusting Congolese people. Koffi’s father is an Akula (a tribe from Equateur) and Ngbaka.

About Koffi loving the mongo style is not really true. Because he used promote music of bambala (intro of Olympia, intro of all Noblesse Oblige concerts), muthuasi and music of the Budja-tribe more in the 90s and early 2000 then any other music. Koffi is the one of the rare artist who doesn’t privilege music  of his tribe and who always mix. In interview he says often that he’s anti tribalist and 100% nationalist

It would be interesting to talk about how managers or admins of an artist do to have contract for their artist with a label or contract for concert live
