Is that the incidence which led to him losing his front tooth? Why did they beat him up. I head him say in one interview that contrary to the common story that Jose Kongulu made him lose his front tooth, instead it's Kongulu who protected him from what would have been a worst case scenario. Lol

They beat him up because his wife of then, i am forgetting her name right now went with a guy from army who suspected her of still dating him in secret so he sent guys and saddam indeed avoided it going way too far

Perfect timing! This was one of the last concerts that Alain Makaba was present in before leaving!
(This concert happened when I was about 5 months old I think!)

Makaba’s last concert were in 1999, in Kinshasa just after release of Titanic, being angry for the way the started to use Kibens, Chai & Rio with Zenith 1999 being his last concert.

This concert in Abidjan, was 1 week after returning to Kinshasa for their long Europe-tour, performing at Palais du Peuple & Nsele Folis. Then when they were in Abidjan, they couldn’t return because the civil war started in DR Congo (when RCD took the control of Goma, Bukavu & Uvira and hijacked a airplane which made them go to Bas-Congo, cut Inga and almost arriving in Kinshasa, but the Angolan & Zimbabwan army saving LD Kabila.). So they stayed in Ivory Coast like a month, Makaba went with JB back to Paris to mix Titanic. BCBG met Defao & Big Stars there with Burkina Faso then participating to the recordings of Tremblenent de Terre. After a month they returned to Kinshasa, Mpela went with Caludji to join JB Mpiana in South Africa where they participated to the Kora Awards ‘98 (but they lost, having Koffi, Awilo & Defao in their category). Having a huge fanbase and being really loved in Ivory Coast, they returned again to celebrate the new year eve 1999 there.

It was in 1994, when they were about to present the Anges Adorables album at Intercontinental (that concert is on YouTube) that he missed out and him making a comeback a few weeks after it.

Blaise Bula was beaten up by soldiers (Under the Mobutu regime) over a woman Monique Kalala who was one the soldier's partners.
