exactly,to be very honest,people are not giving pure congolese music the deserved appreciation also because sebene and generiques have dropped big big time in terms of level and complex of existing abroad at all costs have lead to musicians going the easy route of copying others to stay relevant in the game
i keep also saying that the lack of good new sebene songs is doing us bad service
its not normal that in 2020 when koffi goes abroad he had to play micko and drag it long to make sure people dance "enough",werra with augustine,jb with kaskinto, ,fally with bakandja,ferre with le vent du soir... it means they have not offered something new good enough to be requested in those concerts

They both have their appeal.
Congolese music is very complex and that's its beauty: it has everything: you can dance, cry, think, and chill. I don't know a another genre with that level of diversity.
Congolese bands are supposed to do both, but we don't need to go somewhere else. But as @archos said, there is a lot of laziness in this generation.

Did you see the comments on La Mama's facebook-page ? Fally-fans are claiming that Beyonce sampled the song, because of Fally using Franco's Non in Message.

What Francis Kakonde just wrote is really sad about Congolese artists. I though that he and later his family were getting 100% since that Franco used to have 2 recordlabels (Editions Epanza Makita & Boma Bango)

Couldnt agree more. The success that will actually acrue to a rumba artist for doing crossover songs or album is usually short lived because people appreciate originality. It's the reason that very few or no reggae artist from elsewhere around the world will have success as compared to a reggae artist with Jamaican roots.

Franco’s son posted the video on Facebook. Apparently there is slight controversy over the video (perhaps too sexual) and him saying that they weren’t “warned” but didn’t see issues with the video. I did ask if they were paid and he didn’t answer and took the post down. This is why Congo needs better copyright laws to protect the artists’ works and legacies. The Luambo family shouldn’t be watching from the sidelines as people rush to iTunes to buy his music. Let me also add, there are people pirating his music freely with horrible quality and mismatched discographies that will be benefiting from this if someone doesn’t act on behalf of his estate.

Some of the songs weren’t released by Western companies by individuals making profit from their own personal libraries. They’re not professionally mastered and some ripped directly from the LP hiss and crackling. That needs to stop.

Unfortunately our artists in the 60s and 70s couldn't know much about Copyright especially coming from a Country like RDC where everything has been sold to a European unless it was a personal property of Leopold, not even mentioning the human slaves who got their hands cut if they didn't took enough Caucciù to feel their quota.
But now all of our artists from Fally to Werra, to Roga Roga should be able to get their money and producing their selves I mean look at how much money Innoss is doing going indipendent
