I wonder what was the reason of the concert being cancelled.
Does anyone know it?
-
Really where did you discover that ? Because I just know that Nyoka Longo signed somewhere in Spring '02 for a show at Zenith de Paris in June 2002 and all press promoting the show alot and even the concert date being written on the VHS Vutula Menga of drama-group Salongo. But the show getting cancelled, because of Nyoka Longo not receiving visa's and both Nyoka Longo and the concert promoter openly accusing Koffi Olomide, saying that he snitched them to Maison Schengen wanting to bring ngulu's and the show later and the Zaiko-camp getting postponed to Sept' 2002. I don't remember Zaiko wanting to plan a show at Bercy and I doubt it, because back at those time they didn't had the succes anymore they once used to have and the music-scene being dominated by Wenge Maison Mere, Wenge BCBG, Quartier Latin and Nouvelle Ecriture. They would do mpiaka if they planned a show there. Back in those days Nyoka Longo used often to complain openly in the press that Zaiko-fans based in Europe were doing nothing, etc. for promoting the band.
The only Bercy-show planned in 2002 that I remember was that of King Kester Emeneya, after filling Zenith and already making people ready for it. Later on Emeneya preferred to do Olympia first and plan Bercy for the next tour, but it never came until the project re-appeared when recording Le Jour le Plus Long.

Aahnn Grand Lacs Magazine of journalist Sam Mpengo Bey. Do you have more music archives of his magazine ?
Zaiko was not like Werra & Wenge Maison Mere to start immediately with Bercy and it was a good step for them to go for Zenith. Back then people were really focused on Werrason's double Zenith and Emeneya's Olympia. Despite big support and hype from the press about their show at Zenith, it was said that they just filled 5000 of 7000 seats and the show not being sold out like that of Werrason, Koffi Olomidé & King Kester Emeneya. To promote a Bercy show for Congolese it takes like 1 year/6 months to mobilize the whole diaspora in Europe. I don't remember to hear any noise from Zaiko about promoting a show at Bercy

Unfortunately I don't have more of his articles. I got this one from Zaïko's old website.
Same here, I never saw any promotion about the concert in Bercy. Do you think they would have filled it? I think they would have filled half the hall
-
I don't even believe that they would fill the hall of Bercy. Papa Wemba didn't even fill Bercy, so how would Zaiko do it.
